I know what I've read and researched. I think you can safely say that Lone Oak's passing attack is beyond the challenge pesented by Bell Co. At this point, that statement shouldn't shock anyone. While I'm sure Harrison Co is a fine team, what I heard from reliable sources was that the were the "weakest" of the teams going to the semis. No I haven't seen either team. Have you seen Lone Oak? Any reason to think they present a lesser test than Bell or Harrison?

Its hard to say Lone Oak has a better offense, because there is no common opponents. Their numbers are sensational. But I am willing to bet they have not seen a defense anything like LexCath's. Good luck to both teams!

I predict Lexington Catholic will beat LO by more than 4-5 Tds. Lex Catholic beat a great Bell Co team this year easily and I think they will beat LO as well.

I wouldnt call Bell a great team. They may be, but, there schedule was very weak so its hard to say. They beat a good Lincoln Co team to open the season and after that only played 1 team with a winning record(Sheldon Clark) whos in a lower classification. Everyone on here keeps talking about Lone Oaks weak schedule, me included, but, when I look at Bells, Lone Oaks is better overall than theres, but, since they are a traditionally solid program, they get the benefit of the doubt.

With that said, I still think Lex Catholic wins this game, but, I do see Lone Oak being a solid challenge due to there style of play and ability to score in bunches. Robinson is a great QB, but, they've also got a couple of very good receivers with good speed and run great routes. I think they will be overmatched defensively and that'll be there downfall, but, there offense is good enough to keep them in the game and if they get a few breaks and play errorless football, they've got a pretty fair shot.

I wouldn't disagree with that for a minute. Lexington Catholic is by far the best 4A opponent anyone could face in this state. Most Lone Oak fans appreciate that. In my heart I believe Lone Oak will be the best 4A opponent Lex Cath will face this year. I wish the best to both teams and hope for an excellent championship game.

Not in person, but yes I have. Thanks for asking.

You're welcome.

I have not seen LexCath play but their records speaks volumes.

Lone Oak is a different story. I was skeptical even after the win over North Bullitt because I know they have some lack of speed.

After seeing LO in person against Warren East last week I have to say I am sold on this team and Corey Robinson. This is the most confident team I have ever watched play. They never get ruffled or panicky. I posted elsewhere that on the last two drives to tie and then win the game this team would have been no more confident than is Brett Favre were at QB.

When they line up the don't impress you physically. Robinson will throw it in the dirt when necessary and they don't even pretend to make you think run. But he threw for 512 yards against a very good secondary. East had to stop blitzing because Robinson burned them with screens. After that he had time to wait on receivers to come open.

Having heaped all this praise on Lone Oak I don't think they can beat LexCath...but the Knights better not think that. You know West Virginia thought they were going to the National Championship game along with every WVU fan and every talking head expert in the country.

Go Knights!

Let's try to bring back 2 championships to Lexington. We are all pulling for you guys.

I agree with your assessment about there confidence. They never get rattled and it's like okay, you scored, now, its our turn and they methodically go about there business and do it. You just don't see any panic in them at all and a confident team with some swagger can be a deadly combination. If Lex Cath thinks it's going to be a picnic in the park, they could very well get it handed to them and in a big way.

I thought that Lone Oak had one of the best teams in 4a?

They most certainly do. I stand by my belief that they will be the best 4A team the Knights will play this season!

Lexington Catholic 35-21.

You can be guaranteed that nobody from Lexington Catholic will think this is going to be a picnic. They are a focused bunch of kids and have been single-minded about this goal since they had a taste of the championship as sophomores, and after losing to Covington Catholic last year in the quarter-finals 56-49, I believe that they became that much hungrier. I am certain their intensity will be there.

In fact, if you notice, there are very few posters in this thread from Lexington Catholic - typically speaking, these young men put their blinders on, stay with the game plan, and don't tell people what they can do, rather they prefer to show them what they can do. I am sure it will be a great game from both sides. Good Luck to Lone Oak and good luck to Lexington Catholic.

I'd have to second Poppabear here. Not many of the people commenting on this game and saying it should be a blowout are Lex Cath fans. This is the State Championship game, if anybody really expects the Knights to come out not expecting a tough game than they are crazy. Lex Cath will come ready to play. Whether it is a walk in the park or not will only be determined when the game has been played out but I fully expect Lone Oak to bring all they can.

Not sure about that but from everything I've heard they aren't bad. Still I'd say that 2005 team was maybe just a bit better. Its also hard to knock a few of the older teams from 1998 or so. Those teams had size that few Catholic teams have ever demonstrated since. Course, only the 2005 team and this year's team made it all the way to the state title.

The 2005 team had Revere as a coverage guy, but outside of that, this years Defense seems to be a better D. That kid was a true lock down DB!! Great high school football player. This years D is a better unit.

The flash will give them a great test though. This should be a great game, with the winner being the team that is focused early and often and can overcome adversity.

Good luck to both!!

I would love to have Revere this week. But we don't and we'll have to make do. The LexCath Dbs are going to be tested in a way they haven't been to date. Robinson releases the ball very quickly which may negate the defenses main weapon, the sack. I think it will be a close game for the first half with neither team being able to stop the other. The LexCath depth should come into play in the second half. The pass rush should also be more effective then.

Lone Oak's stats are impressive as is their QB. Unfortunately, we don't get much press from that end of the state. I don't think anyone gets to this level of the playoffs without good team personnel and game plans. I think LC's defensive assets will test LO in ways they haven't encountered, and, LO's offense will be a test LC must deal with. I know LC has considerable depth both in the trenches and skill positions and I think this will be the turning point of the game. Congrats to both teams for outstanding seasons and I look forward to seeing a great game Saturday-Catholic by four scores and it could be more if the Oakers tire.
