Steve Spurrier = Blue Devil?

Featured Replies

I heard this morning on ESPN that he is also "consulting" with Tom Osborne on their coaching vacancy. I think he would like to leave USC due to their above average entrance requirements. He has been at odds with the higher-up there for a while.

If that's the case, I couldn't see him going to Duke....They have higher requirements than USC.

If Steve Spurrier would leave South Carolina for their above average entrance requirements, what would he think of the standards set a Duke University?

I would say he's just a consultant for Duke on hiring a new coach.

This is the case.

While it would certainly up my rooting of Duke football, it isn't happening. He and Alleva are great great friends, no more no less.

For starters i don't think he's going to Duke...just wanted to put that out there.

But, if he did go think of this:

Low expectations, he would improve them, 6 or 7 wins would probably earn him coach of the year. If he didn't, which eventually he would get there, it's Duke, how could can you really expect them to be?

The ACC is weak. No consistent powers anymore, even Virginia Tech or Boston College can only be considered pretty good at best. And we all know how FSU and UM have played lately.

S.C. is much improved since he got there, but can he realistically expect them to get to a consistent elite level or LSU or Florida? No way.

To leave an SEC team, he would undoubtably get a pay raise.

Still, it would be a major downgrade, and probably a horrible idea.

If he didn't go back to Florida, I don't think he's going back to Duke. He'll stay at Carolina because he's bullheaded (not to mention a great coach)

I actually see him as LSU's coach next year for some reason.

Nice call. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

. Shows one how much I know.

Keep the above in mind the next time I tell you that you're wrong on something.

Spurrier's the devil alright. :thumb:

He and Alleva are golfing buddies and work on several charities together. Calm down everyone. Spurrier may leave SC, but only for another SEC team.
