Spurrier spotted with Duke AD

DURHAM, N.C. -- A familiar name from Duke's football past was on campus Wednesday: Steve Spurrier.

The South Carolina coach was at Cameron Indoor Stadium meeting with athletic director Joe Alleva, two days after the Blue Devils fired coach Ted Roof...

Could be nothing, but who knows?

I saw that also, I good person to rebuild the program, hard to argue with success....

I would say he's just a consultant for Duke on hiring a new coach.

I don't see any reason he'd want to leave SC for Duke.

Great opportunity, to return to the alma mater, with a passion for supporting sports.

Interesting story to follow.

I would say he has had enough at SC. I kind of expect him to return "home".

His alma mater is Florida. He just coached at Duke.

Spurrier may be crazy, but he is not crazy enough to take that train wreck of a job, at least I do not think he is. I know S. Carolina's defensive coordinator (I cannot think of his name right now) is one of the top assistants sought after for a head coaching vacancy. That could be what they were discussing.

Thanks and for some reason, I always thought he won the Heisman at Duke.....:thumb:

I know the reason, but I can't say it on here. :sssh::D:D

Duke gave him his first HC job. As a sign of his eternal gratitude, every year in the preseason coaches poll, he includes Duke on his Top 25 ballot.

.... I'm losing my mind, that's why.

Thanks and I wasn't aware of that either Jim....:thumb:

Up until a few minutes ago, I would have argued he played at Duke. Shows one how much I know.

I heard this morning on ESPN that he is also "consulting" with Tom Osborne on their coaching vacancy. I think he would like to leave USC due to their above average entrance requirements. He has been at odds with the higher-up there for a while.
