bigblueinsanity Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 :dancingpa: Great win for Travis and Umass.
SkipToMyLou Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Just saw the highlights. Great road win for UMass.
futurecoach Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Uh oh, if Billy G dont start winning, we might have some UK fans start complaining saying how we should have brought the UK boy in Travis Ford to be our coach... Great win for UMASS and Travis!
hoopboy Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Uh oh, if Billy G dont start winning, we might have some UK fans start complaining saying how we should have brought the UK boy in Travis Ford to be our coach... Great win for UMASS and Travis! I'm sure they'll be plenty of irrational fans out there that will find something to complain about Billy G.
youknowme Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Are you sure this Isn't supposed to be an NBA score? Where's the D
Auxier RiverRat Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Uh oh, if Billy G dont start winning, we might have some UK fans start complaining saying how we should have brought the UK boy in Travis Ford to be our coach... Great win for UMASS and Travis! Didnt they say this before we hired BCG?
jahearme Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Now maybe we understand why UK didn't want to go to UMASS and play this year...
spe690 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 In regulation? Yes! I now understand why BCG took U-Mass off the schedule this year. They would beat UK by 15+!!!! This team presses full court on every possession and they run an amazingly fast offense. Travis Ford is going to make a name for himself, quick!:ylsuper:
MoreheadEagle Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 It will take more than this for T. Ford to make a "name" for himself. Frankly I'm surprised he's done as well as he has at UMass considering he had maybe one great season among many bad ones at EKU. He has some shooters and probably would beat UK this season but he's no where near a SEC, Big 10, ACC caliber coach yet IMO.

He has some shooters and probably would beat UK this season but he's no where near a SEC, Big 10, ACC caliber coach yet IMO. Hes already made a name for himself, first of all. -His first year at Campbellsville he went 16-17. Followed by a 28-3 campaign, then in his final year a 23-11 season. So he certainly changed that program in a positive way. -AT EKU 2001- 7-19 2002- 7-20 2003- 11-17 2004- 14-15 2005- 22-9 (and a mid south conference tourny championship, and a birth in the NCAA tournament.) -AT UMass 2006- 13-15 2007- 24-9 So it is very obvious that Travis has had great success at each school he has been at. His next job will be in a major conference such as the SEC, ACC or of that nature. Hes a disciple of Pitino and is going to be a big name coach in a few years.
MoreheadEagle Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 2005 was his only winning season in the OVC. Granted it was a great season and he's an OK coach but I wouldn't call him the next Pitino or anything. I hope he does well but I think he gets a little too much love simply for having played at UK when there are about a dozen other coaches who are just as good throughout the country.

He was left with nothing at EKU and turned the program around to be an OVC contender year in and year out. Yeah, he left after his first year winning season there but he built a solid program from basically nothing and now he turning the UMASS program back around. He's a solid coach and recruiter.
