UMass looked pretty good on the highlights.

He was left with nothing at EKU and turned the program around to be an OVC contender year in and year out. Yeah, he left after his first year winning season there but he built a solid program from basically nothing and now he turning the UMASS program back around. He's a solid coach and recruiter.

MooreHeadEagle seemed to miss that part. Or he doesnt understand that you build a program then you move on to bigger and better things.

I said he was a good coach but gets too much love for being a UK guy. A lot of his getting the UMass job had to do with A. Pitino and B. Murray getting eliminated from the OVC tourney and giving EKU an easier road to the big dance. But point A had the biggest effect.

He will be highly saught after in a few years. He just wasn't ready for UK at the time that they needed a coach.

2005 was his only winning season in the OVC. Granted it was a great season and he's an OK coach but I wouldn't call him the next Pitino or anything. I hope he does well but I think he gets a little too much love simply for having played at UK when there are about a dozen other coaches who are just as good throughout the country.
