Yeah I was real young, but wasn't you guys really tabbed as the team to beat that year and coming off a State Title?

I have heard several awesome stories about going to Ft. Thomas for football games, I even made a couple but I was a very young todler then.

Yes, the year before (1989) was kind of odd. We lost to Paducah Tilghman early in the year, but then beat them in the state championship game. The season after the Belfry loss, we were only 6-5.

Another little bit of Cannon history; the first time it was fired was in 1968 at the Highlands vs. Cov. Cath. game. It was also learned at the game that if you sit the cannon too close to closed windows, they will blow out.:lol:

As a non HHS guy fill me in, is there like a club or something who is in control of the cannon. Some type of special group? If so I bet there is a waiting list to join.

Sure they will blow out especially when they were shooting much larger loads. Believe me, i have heard the stories!!!!!

Not a chance that it would ever be fired for NC or anyother school in the area. Heck they don't even fire it for anyother Highlands sport. Such as basketball, soccer, baseball, etc. Strictly FOOTBALL!

Hey now!!!!! If we were allowed to travel with the cannon, it would have it's own private covered trailer with climate control.
