Is Highland's weightroom also their varsity locker room/meeting room/film room/shower/bathrrom? Scott's is. Not to mention the Staph issue

 

I don't know about Highlands, but Simon Kenton has the same type of facilities.

Very unfortunate about Coach Fisk. No one can deny his love and allegience to Scott and regardless of what anyone thinks of him as a coach I don't believe anyone can say he didn't work hard and care about his players. He took this position when the previous hire left them high and dry after only a few days and won a few games at a school that many think winning under this current open enrollment setup is virtually impossible. I'm sure Coach Fisk will land on his feet and he can hold his head up high.. There is a lot you can be proud of Coach..

IMO opinion Scott's lack of success has not only been due to open enrollment, and a lack of a feeder program but also due to the coaching staff's lack of foresight of the positions of their players.

 

Tony Deck has been the QB under Fisk for the past 3 years roughly and to be honest, I have hardly seen any improvement in his skills. He actually seems to have regressed a little. He doesn't have the arm to run the QB position. Also I think Forrestor shouldn't have been the RB. He just doesn't have the speed nor the cut ability to work that position. With as bad as the offensive line has looked for Scott this year, I would've put him on the line with his size.

As for the athlete situation, Scott has a lot of athletes that COULD play for the team but alot of them just don't see the point as the sport they are in they are successful and the football team has hardly any success.

 

I also though Scott's offensive system was wrong this year. At times they spread their WRs out so far that even somebody with a relatively strong arm would have trouble running plays off successively. But however the situation is worse when your QB has a below average arm and is in this predicament.

 

I understand that not every coach is going to be perfect and won't have the best system but IMO there were just too many flaws in Fisk's program and I think it was best for Scott to let him go

 

 

To come on hear and Bash kids is just wrong. What was wrong with Deck and Forrester this year. Deck was tied in the lead in NKY with TD's thrown this year and threw for over 1,000 yards, yet he degressed. I would of loved to see his stats from last year, he most of thrown for 2,000 and 30 TD's. To say that Forrester was not the answer at running back is also a mis-statement. He was 6th in NKY in rushing and had 2 200 yard games. Your right he didn't not have a lot of speed and cut-back ability, but he was one of the toughest runners to come through Scott High. Who would of you played at each postition if not those to.

:thumb: Well said, don’t forget their offensive also put up the second most point total for a season in school history. The offense was progressing especially since they had a completely new offensive staff with a different offensive strategy

I agree but what could the "different direction" be when stuck in the same district as Covcath, Highlands, and Dixie?

 

You just are not going to beat both CovCath and Highlands in any given year. And Dixie has the edge in an open enrollment situation and you probably aren't going to beat them 95% of the years.

 

So what coach, other than one maybe only looking for moderate success (win 6 or 7 games, lose in the first round of the playoffs a couple of years in a row) and then looking to move on, could they get?

 

Unless Scott is going to grow to 6A status or drop to the 4A level, I just can't see any coach making that big of a difference.

 

And again it isn't as if Scott has a terrible program. Imagine if the KHSAA doesn't allow teams to play up and they were in a district comprised of Dixie, Holmes, Grant Co., and Scott. That's a situation that a coach taking the program in a different direction could suceed.

A little plastic, duct tape, WD40 on the door hinges and a coat of paint would bring it up to code I think. Maybe a concrete block or two underneath would level it out so the free weights don't all roll to one corner when they are put down.
