The final score last game (last month) was Beechwood 48 - Bellevue 14. My only question to the fans that think Bellevue can win this game is where are the 35 points going to come from that are needed for a Bellevue win? Has the Bellevue defense improved so drastically that they will be able to hold Beechwood to 13 points and provided the offense can score 14 again pull off the upset? Or is the Bellevue offense up to putting 49 points on the board? Reallistically speaking it would have to be a combination of both, so what formula are you going to use to get the upset?

Well by grab the smelling salts I hope you don't mean Beechwood will be knocking anyone out.. They are one of the softest hitting teams Bellevue has played this year other than Bracken and Brossart..If anything Beechwood should get them because it seems like every game they are always getting hurt, it's the simple truth Beechwood can't take a physical game...

With the strong schedule New Cath played (Ryle 6A ,Cov Cath 5A ,whoever else ) ,I was told this by a New Cath parent ,"My son said that game with Beechwood was the hardest hitting game he has played in his high school career ".The young man is a senior starter at New Cath .If your statement is true ,it is amazing not to have very many injuries .JMO

I agree it won't be a shut out. But not because of Bellevue's seniors, it will be because Beechwood substituted their starters out early in the 3rd Qtr. Bellevue's starters score on the 2nd teamers of Beechwood.

 

 

Seriously, I'm all for rooting for your team and supporting them. But if you really think Bellevue is going to give Beechwood a close game, then you need to take off the yellow and black colored glasses. This will not be close. Beechwood will physically dominate Bellevue.

I don't think its unrealistic to think that Bellevue will give Beechwood a close game. I didn't see Beechwood's game last week, but from what I am being told (which again I am not sure is completely accurate) Beechwood looked less than impressive last Friday against a Ludlow team that they handled rather easily earlier in the year. I was told it was a very tight game until midway through the 3rd when the Beechies depth took over. Bellevue is a better team than Ludlow IMO, so I don't think that its a stretch to say that the game will be competitive throughout. Beechwood is a fine team, but to say that Bellevue doesn't have a chance is simply ridiculous IMO. The Beechies are coming off of a disappointing loss to NCC and a sub par performance against Ludlow. Meanwhile the Tigers avenged their blowout loss to Dayton. So by my simple mind, it appears that Bellevue has gotten better since their matchup with the Beechies while Beechwood has remained stagnant. I guess the real question is, have they improved enough?

 

I still think the Beechies pull this one out, but I think the score will be much closer than many are predicting.

Your right Beechwood didn't look that great (slow starting team sometimes) it was 21-6 with 2minutes left in the second quarter. Even with a slow start that is a pretty good margin, it won't be a shut out but the margin will open up as the game goes on.

You have been given some good info .Most of us should also know that coming off that game with NCC it would be easy to have a bit of a let down .The game was pretty physical .BW had some players dinged going into the game with a very inspired Ludlow team .Even though it was the 1st game of the playoffs being beat up and playing a team you beat 56-6 ( score ?? but close ) earlier in the year .Maybe BW overlooked Ludlow ,but they still won 47-12 .

 

I do make excuses for the first 2 drives resulting in fumbles .The defense showed there stuff keeping Ludlow out of the endzone .Both fumbles coming deep inside BW territory .The offense needs to play better all around .They did seem to put it together after the 1st qtr .

 

If I remember right ,the score was 21- 6 at the half .BW scored 2 TDS late in the 2 nd qtr .I think it maybe a situation of go win the game and get- stay healthy .ONCE AGAIN --JMO

 

Hopefully it is a good game to get either team ready for the 3rd round .

Bellevue's chances of winning this game are about the same as Scott's chance of beating Highlands last week. Slim to none and slim left town two weeks ago.

Never did I compare Dayton to Beechwood, just another opportunity for you to try to take a shot at a Birds' fan. If you read my comment, it stated that I should pick Beechwood, but for some reason, I can't. Sorry that you feel that way, but I am entitled to my opinion of Bellevue pulling off an upset. Read what I marked in bold lettering, you are comparing Dayton to Beechwood by what you said. Never have I taken a shot at a Birds' fan, as you put it, you just have a complex I guess. I wish I could some how take everyones bets on this game who think Bellevue is going to win. It would be very interesting to see how many put the money up to back up their opinions.

 

Beechwood knows what they have to do. A very disappointing game last week performance wise but they still took care of business and won, just in an ugly way. Like was stated on another thread, the good teams beat the teams they are suppose to beat no matter the hand they are dealt.

 

The last Bellevue game, Beechwood played w/out 4 two way starters. Look out, they are all ready to go this week.:thumb:

Have to agree with UNC-5 that this is some of the greatest bulletin board material I've ever seen!! Griz, I appreciate your optimism; but this is why the Beechies stayed home in 1-A, to add to their hardware connection. They won't overlook a local team!!

I agree with you with this comment. I got there at halftime. The second half was all hard hitting. Beechwood has always been a hard hitting team. I would know this because I played there from 92-94. Yeah I know that this isn't 1994 it is 2007 but I know it hasn't changed. You have a head coach from what I have been told by people who know him was a nut at Thomas Moore who loved to hit. You have a OC who was a stud QB and LB who would just run over you or hit you as hard as he could. You have their other coaches who I'm sure love the hitting as well. There hasn't been to many soft Beechwood teams. This isn't one of them. Beechwood could very well not get to Louisville or get beat in the playoffs.I don't see it happening this week.

If Bellevue wants to win this game, they have to believe they can do it. It's gotten to the point in these 1A schools where they look at Beechwood as untouchable. Anyone can be beaten on any day and I think this game will be closer than expected.

I have played, scouted, coach against Bellevue for along time and they have always played the game to win. However, I have seen Bellevue three time's this year and Beechwood twice and I have to give the edge in this one to Beechwood. Bellevues players must beleive they can win and with the win over Dayton on Friday they have the momentum. This should play out to be a good game for three quarters then Beechwood have their way. I wish both teams the best of luck. JD
