Final

Good Job Cards...

Crittenden puts up a good effort in this one. From week 1 to week 12, no team improved as much through the season than the Rockets.

On to Fulton City for the Cards.

Bear with me guys I'm typin this from my blackberry, but I had to get on here and say how proud I am of these kids, they've been through a lot and got better every week. We gave the cards all they wanted tonight, showed the future is bright! Only losing a couple of starters!

I thought Critt Co played a very good game, they had some nice looking players like #14 and #4 and #28.

Win and advance, Cards, win and advance.

Crittenden County played with a lot of heart tonight...both teams played a very physical game...not the prettiest game to watch (or call) but both teams laid it on the line and that is all that you can really ask for. Turning point might have been the controversial call late in the 3rd quarter with Mayfield ahead 17-14 and the ball near the Rockets 30 yard line when Mayfield's running back was tackled, lost the ball and from there confusion rang out on what happened. As Crittenden County fell on the ball but no signal was given as to whether the Mayfield carrier fumbled or was down by contact when the ball came out. The officials debated over 5 minutes on who had the ball and where the ball was spotted. The officials finally talked it over and gave the ball back to Mayfield and the result of the play was a first down. The CARDS went on to score the game winning TD after that. Coach Morris told us on our post game show that what happened was an "inadvertant whistle" on the play. It turned out to be in our favor, but hate it for the Rockets and their team. But the Rockets caught a break of their own on a sack by Mayfield that would have made it 4th and 15 the officials called Mayfield for a celebration penalty (which unless something was said was a bad call by a crew that had done a pretty good job up to that point.) The Rockets got the automatic first down and proceeded to score to cut the lead to 24-21. Mayfield recovered the onside kick with 2:55 remaining and the Cards from there ran out the clock.

J.D Gray played with a lot of heart for the Rockets at QB and the Sorina kid at RB is a heck of a player. Keep your heads up Rockets you will be a force next year...and for the Cards...great job of bouncing back and finally coming out with the win.

Let's take the next two days off to recouperate and then get ready for Fulton City on Monday.

Congrats to both teams on a hard fought and classy game between two good programs!!!

Your a class act cardsvoice!thanks for the updates and I look forward to next years matchup, I'm glad we are in the same district and hope that these games will always be this close! Congrats cards!

The Refs were AWFUL...both ways...I have NEVER been one to complain, but this year...my gosh! :madman: I know it won't matter but I feel like emailing the KHSAA and linking the webcast from WPSD.:creepy:

About the game: Hats off the Crittendon County! :thumb: Starting the year to now what an improvement they have made! They played hard and should make some noise next year. They played solidily on defense and made the Cards earn every yard!

I really don't understand Mayfield's play calling sometimes on Offense...it just seems so hap-hazard. The "D" did ok, but those arms tackles won't work against Fulton! Mayfield must play better next week or Fulton City will make them look silly!

Crittenden played a heck of a game. When the players of Mayfield walked off the field tonight they knew they had been in a game. The QB for Crittenden played like a champion tonight. Not even close to the way he played in the first game. Congrats to the Mayfield boys for playing hard and never giving up. Good game for both teams.

Congrats to the Cardinals.

I agree, I have seen some pretty bad officiating this year, not just in this game, must be a lot of new ones start this year or something.

For some reason, when Mayfield gets near the redzone, we lose our minds as to what plays we need to call to score, I still haven't figured that one out.

You got to hand it to Crittenden, they never give up, they could be down 50 points and they will still be out there giving you 110%. Yeah, this Crittenden team will pretty much all be back next year, gonna be an interesting district matchup!!
