Coker spent the last two weeks in a rehab facility as part of his requirement to re-join the team. Against Cal the Vols could use his speed out of the backfield but a one game suspension is better than an entire season. If he slips up one more time he will be another Onterrio Smith.

Sophomore tailback LaMarcus Coker, who'd shown flashes of brilliance on the field during his brief Tennessee career, has run out of chances off the field.

 

 

Coker was dismissed from the team Friday after failing his fourth drug test, sources told ESPN.com. Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer first announced Coker's dismissal in a statement issued by the university and later expressed remorse that Coker had chosen this path despite an outpouring of support from several different people at Tennessee.

Four drug tests? As if, maybe, two or three shouldn't raise a red flag? Four?

Hats off to Fulmer. It is a shame that he or any coach has to make a decision of this type.

Amazing, the Great Pumpkin decided to becom a disciplinarian after his 3rd bad season in a row. Hey, you've got to stand for something and if you can't be a winner then perhaps you should have morals. Because he certainly didn't have any when he was winning. Fulmer is the biggest joke in the SEC.

The kid can't say he didn't have enough chances. 4 failed drug screens? Wow, now that is tolerance. The kid obviously needs some help.

You always try to give kids the benefit of the doubt, but coker has issues that go far beyond football. He needs to get his life together then worry about things that are meaningless in the overall scope of life.

 

Besides, Creer is more than capable of picking up the slack. Just a freshman, but possibly the fastest of the three running backs...probably faster that 99% of our receivers....Now if we can just keep Hardesty healthy...ought to be fun to see an old fashioned smash mouth game on Sat VS the HOGS!
