Senses of Sport

Featured Replies

Reading underarmour's location gave me the idea for this thread. What are your favorite sights, sounds and smells in sports? I'll give my top few...

Sound:

1) Crack of a wood bat

2) Pop of a catcher's mitt

3) The 'click-clack' of metal cleats on concrete

Sight:

1) A freshly lined, cut and manicured baseball field

2) The arrow straight lines of a football field and the logos

Smell:

1) Pine tar

2) Pine tar

3) Pine tar

If you want to add taste, feel free...

I love..

The sound of a big hit.

and

The bat flip.

The roar of an engine, the smell of high octane racing fuel, the sight of 43 shiny cars rolling past the flag stand taking the green flag.

The entire spectacle of the Army-Navy game is way up on my list.

The hedges in the endzone at UGA.

While the smell itself is not pleasant, the association of the smell of football practice jerseys that are a few days "ripe" is always pleasant.

I always thought the smell of the fresh cut grass on Friday night during pregame pumped me up. Just the fresh smell of the outdoor's in the fall is great. Then the sound of the marching band. JD

The smell of a baseball glove.

That reminds me of another one. Honestly, there's nothing better smelling then a brand new baseball. I smell everyone that comes out of the wrapper.

Can't believe I forgot that...

This is particularly awesome at Thunder Valley.

I would add the blur of watching cars going 200 mph on the front stretch of the Brickyard.

The smell of sweaty shoulder pads.

I am having the funniest image. SM under the bleachers with newly opened baseballs strewn throughout and you almost passed out from overdosing on the smell of new baseballs.

Squeaking of basketball shoes in the gym and the swish of the net. Music to these ears.

The words, "On the line." :D

The sound and feel of a good drive. You know it when you hit one and don't even NEED to look where it is going cause you know it is down the middle and long. Of course, I do look to enjoy the sight because it don't happen very often for LBBC.

Never happen, it's long, slow, deep breathes to keep from hyperventilating...
