November 2, 200718 yr The hedges in the endzone at UGA. While the smell itself is not pleasant, the association of the smell of football practice jerseys that are a few days "ripe" is always pleasant. I did not know that you played at Conner.
November 2, 200718 yr Back in the day when we went to all of Union College's home basketball games, they always played "Sweet Georgia Brown" before the game while the teams were warming up and you could hear it from the time you stepped out of the car in the parking lot......I loved that walk to the gym on those cold winter evenings.....great memories! I'm old enough to remember Mignon Doran playing Sweet Georgia Brown on the organ at MSU basketball games. Also remember Adron Doran riding his horse on the football field.
November 2, 200718 yr Well, if we're going with all sports, I'm pretty fond of the sound a bowstring makes and the "thud" when it hits it's target. And my favorite has to be the "spit and drum" of the wild turkey. Pretty fond of the smell of a new baseball glove and the feel of the grip on a new aluminum bat. Hate the smell of an 8 week old chinstrap, but love the sound of it being snapped. :thumb::thumb: Also in the outdoor sports theme......the phrase "There he is" when you have pick up on a plastic worm or a jig and "get the net" are two of my favorites.
November 2, 200718 yr Is that what that is for? Cause in the boys basketball locker room, it always ended up in jock straps. :flame: :thumb::thumb::laugh::laugh:
November 2, 200718 yr A couple more: "Runners take your mark" just before an important sprint. That little "snick" just before a lunker starts trying to take your nightcrawler to the deepest part of the lake. The band at halftime when they're really tight. The "whoosh" of the driver as you loosen up on the first tee. And as for tastes; there was many a time in high school that WHATEVER I ate after the weigh-in at a high school wrestling match (and after days of VERY light eating) tasted better than just about anything.
November 2, 200718 yr I enjoy how refreshing I find the smell of spring and the bright sunlight hitting the baseball field, especially following four months of brutal heat which gives way to dark and cold, which then gives way to four months of hot, smelly gyms and locker rooms.
