October 29, 200718 yr If you can't afford the tip, then maybe you should be eating at McDonalds. :thumb:Exactly!
October 29, 200718 yr No not shame on me. I'm sorry, but I dont make the kind of money to be giving it all to a Server or Waiter. I hate to hear that some only make 2 dollars a hour, but if your that desperate for money, Mcdonalds is hiring for 6 bucks an hour. Maybe someday when I get that big job i've been waiting for. But for right now, i'm throwing down a 5. I'm not that desperate for money, If people tip like they should then on normal nights I walk away making over 20 bucks an hour...Thanks And if you don't want to reward people who "serve" you then go to Micky D's and get the cheap food and service you want...

The only fortunate thing is that if you tip bad and someone remembers, you'll be getting a LOT more than you pay for next time around. Not quite the bargain I'm looking for...
October 29, 200718 yr If you can't afford the tip, then maybe you should be eating at McDonalds. Most of the time I go to the grocery store and bring home food to cook at home. Dont tell me where I should and shouldnt eat. I'll leave the amount tip that I feel like leaving and if you dont like it, then get over it.

I'll leave the amount tip that I feel like leaving and if you dont like it, then get over it. I think you should at least inform the server that you're going to leave him/her a crappy tip so she can focus her efforts and service elsewhere. Places like Skyline, I usually leave a buck a person. For good service, I leave 20%. For not-so-good service, it's closer to 10%. On rare occasions, I'll leave no tip if the service is especially bad. I try not to penalized the server for things not in their control. In those cases, I gripe to the manager, but also let them no that the service was fine.
October 29, 200718 yr So if your bill is about 100 dollars for a family meal you still throw down just 5 at the max??? I think we are getting our wires mixed up.. The most I EVER spend at a Smokey Bones type resturant is MAYBE 16 or 17 dollars.... you all are talking about 100 dollar meals here? lol, umm.. no.
October 29, 200718 yr I think you should at least inform the server that you're going to leave him/her a crappy tip so she can focus her efforts and service elsewhere. Yeah thats pretty smart. Read my above post.

You're make me look bad if that's the case.

Then I dont see why you are complaining? I'm not downgrading servers here.. but if my meal is 15 dollars on a Hamburger and fries.. then i'm not leaving a 7 dollar or so tip. I think 5 is plenty enough.

If you leave 5 on 17 then as a server I would love it, you should have made that clearer earlier, I thought you were talking about like 40 or 50 dollar checks...
October 29, 200718 yr If you leave $5 on a $17 bill, I commend you. You're make me look bad if that's the case. I'm not out to make anyone look bad. I simply put that I dont use the percentage tool. I like my 5 dollars, 3 dollars, Nothing technique. Nothing personal towards anyone or any servers.
October 29, 200718 yr If I'm by myself or with the wife, I'll tip around 20% if they give sufficient service. If I have my youngest, I'll tip close to 40%. Poor people have no idea what they're getting into giving that kid a fork... Sometimes at Skyline I'll pay the tip for the people behind us since they're wearing all the cheese...
October 29, 200718 yr The only time I spend over 20 dollars on a check is when my girlfriend is with me.. even then she doesnt like to eat in public (some kind of phobia thing), so she doesnt get much.
