You won't hear us complain. We like the CAM. Truthfully we all know it's not right. It is an advantage. I would think that KHSAA would look at these things before hand. Now just maybe they did and had no choice. That I don't know. Any way three tripps to the CAM would be great if we get that far.

JD is referring to 2 different seasons, westsider(and maybe I'm getting a bit senile in my old age but, IMHO, I feel it's too early for these kids to find out how cruel politics can be in the political arena, but I keep hearing the same old song and dance, and it simply ain't so!). I realize I'm stepping on a few toes here, but I feel the need to tell it as it is(at least for the past several years, or so), and hope my comments don't create any animosity toward anyone other than myself, although the adults who enjoy playing here do so with the kids' thought process which will, more than likely, ultimately transcend to the playing field where the kids should learn that hard work, determination, and perseverance, plays a much larger role in the transition to their next level, and should determine wins and losses. But this probably will continue, at best or, more likely, get worse! But you should consider KHSAA's influence, and politics(Pike always sends a very large number to the polling booths, which should be sufficient but, unfortunately, only helps to perpetuate this with those who choose to take advantage of it :irked: ) which, unfortunately, a select few benefit from, and who pass along the wrong lesson for our kids to learn what degree it can have in their future(most will never enter the political arena) leaving them to sort this out on their own, and losing time better spent on the opportunities available to them in preparing for life as an adult. An example, as a matter of fact, is the opportunity for Belfry to host the playoffs through Semi-State both this year and next! :creepy: Also, I watched the Owensboro Catholic game you mentioned fall prey to this situation. But Prestonsburg, while not playing their best regular season game at home should, nevertheless, have won that game with Belfry if not for only a couple of strategic penalties. And, if not for the injuries finally taking their toll at Breathitt Co.(and P-Burg continues to struggle even more, as time passes, to get enough numbers to allow even enough to play both sides of the ball, much to the pleasure of the many detractors, with the reason, not the least of which is, in part, due to this) which, if hosted at P-burg wouldn't have been the case as it would have been a different opponent, with the subsequent game with Belfry played at P-Burg and more difficult for the officiating to have influenced the outcome. I realize very few will see it as I do, but I will sleep better after this, much as those involved, who could care less, do! :thumb:

Its simple if P-Burg or Russell if would have beaten us they would have won a state title.

 

Both years we won the title nerves contributed to the games being as close as they was, as the games went on Belfry seemed to be the better team.

In the past, the first three rounds of the playoffs involved teams from opposing districts playing each other and crowning a regional champ for the last one standing. The pairings were 1vs2, 3vs4, 5vs6, 7vs8.

 

Starting with 2006, each district played within itself the first two rounds and the champ then played the champ from another district in the 3rd round for the regional championship. But instead of pairing the same districts against each other, the KHSAA wanted to mix it up a little in the 3rd round. The KHSAA decided to have a draw to decide which districts will play each other in the 3rd round and rotate it year to year.

Or maybe Central was simply a team having a bad night or a team that not used to traveling much that didn't respond well to a three-hour road trip.

 

There is no reason to think that a team that played Manual to the end and beat Bullitt East is going to get squashed by Johnson Central on a regular basis. Central had a bad night, plain and simple.

I'm not saying Central is overrated or anything like that, I give them allt he credit in the world for their shcedule.

I def understand the trip being a factor.

But even when you have a bad night you play physical you know. Maybe they are very physical I dont know I havent seen them play.

I just think that from what I have heard, Belfry, Russell, Mason, or Breathitt wont beat them with speed or atheletes but simply have to knock their block off, and I feel pretty conftorable with those teams being able to out muscle them. It will be an interesting matchup whoever it is, if you make it that far on either side, your good, that simple.

What, Belfry's opponents didn't experience "nerves" either? Or is that just a malady that affects the eastern side?

Honestly I thought in 04 Pburg was for sure the best team Belfry played, Ocath was the most explosive, but Pburg was athletic and matched Belfry physicaly, but both years OCath and Etown was both tough match ups for Belfry with their passing, although Belfry was tough matchups for them as well.

As for 03, I felt Middlesboro was the best game Belfry played during that run, I think them and Etown would have been a godo game as well, but I would probably say Etown was second best team we played. We beat Middlesboro 21-0 that year.
