Well, I for one hope that this game is a good springboard for both programs to go far into the playoffs & hopefully a state championship. Both schools always support each other except for when they play. I am looking forward to an electric atmosphere Friday night. :flame:

I know this will be an unfavorable comment but I think it needs to be said. Some college kids said this to me and I think it bares repeating. As much fun as this game is going to be and as much hype in a good way that has occured the big factor is keep your eyes on the prize and that is not this game. Each team should play a good game but the prize is a state championship and others have noticed on our side Fairview is getting better and better and LCA is just really good. Now i know the comments I am going to get that the coaches know these issues and that the boys are well aware of this but you would be surprised how much a bunch of men and some ladies can stray a young man away from a tad bit of reality. So my final thoughts are have a safe game. Know that this friendly neighborhood rivilary but keep your eyes on the prize.

I seriously doubt the Raceland game was (as you put it) "what was left". It was just more logical & realistic to play a competitive team that would be a good rivalry close to home...period.

 

If you really think Coach McGlone would rather play another "Lewis Co." type team (no disrespect intended) as opposed to a team that will help his team be better for the playoffs then you're sadly mistaken. I know that you have to play district teams, but this was (& is) far more logical (especially late in the season) than Danville or Fort Thomas.

 

The bottom line is that it's not a "slap-in-the-face" to play Raceland; Ashland does it, & the majority of Raceland's opponents are bigger in class except their district opponents.

I agree oldram, whil this game is a "pride" type game that has not been played for around 30 years or more the L.C.A. and Fairview games are much more important to Raceland than this one for the very reason that you have stated. District and playoffs are what it is all about.

I never said it was a "slap-in-the-face" to play Raceland. They are one of the top programs in NEKY with one of the best coaching staffs.

 

 

In a lot of peoples opinions you didn't have to say it in those exact words............the "What was left" comment spoke volumes and said all that need be.

 

As for the 2nd part of your statement...... I agree, Raceland is one of the top programs in NEKY as is Russell.

Thanks for the history BB, I was not aware of Kasey, Cory, and Jason's dad playing at Raceland, I must have missed that somehow, Jason is a terrible story teller, so he may have forgotten to tell me that.

 

I am sure that we could tell a large amount of stories about how these two schools are linked. I have heard many stories similar to yours and I am sure there are many more.

Russell has to go to East every other year and their facilities are not near as nice as Raceland's. Are the Devils just putting this out so they have an excuse if the improbable happens?Besides the Rams basketball team has to play in the tomb Russell calls a gym, and they will not complain

I still can't believe we are talking about Ram Stadium and whether or not Russell should "lower" themselves to the little brother's level and play in his room for once. Come on. And people wonder where the steroetypes of Russell fans come from? I give the Russell Admin, especially Sam Sparks, all the props in the world for doing a home and home. I like that this game will have a completely different atmosphere than next year's game. That's the way football is meant to be played. And despite popular belief there will be plenty of room to watch the game. If it's still rainy and wet on Friday the casual fans will stay at home and watch the replay on Channel 25. And I don't know about anyone else but after sitting on Russell's rigid metal back seats all year up in the reserved section I don't mind sitting in a comfortable lawn chair with a cup holder!

 

Despite some posts on here I am glad the Russell admin agreed to a home and home and didn't bully themselves like Ashland does. I am not an Ashland apologist and I think it's disgraceful they don't at least come to Raceland every two years. I think they owe them that. Kudos to Russell for doing the right thing.
