I am not a fan of either team, but for this game I would love to see the Rams beat the Devils. Since the Devils are at the bottom of my list, wait they don't even qualify for my list, I'm cheering for the Rams. :banana:

I guess he thinks that we don't know the real story. Raceland was on the schedule very early, penciled in before last season was over.

 

What was left, please. Just because FBALL does not want Russell to play Raceland does not mean the the Russell administration does not want Russell to play Raceland.

 

No offense but not everyone wanted this game. Not that they don't want to play Raceland but not under the current terms of the agreement. If you put the word "at" in there a couple of times it would be more accurate.

Teams that are district opponents have to go to the other's site every other year. My buddy is from Russell and he said they had to go to places in their district where there were not nearly enough seats for the fans. From reading FBALL's comments it appears he is saying if you have a choice why choose to play where there aren't enough seats for the majority of the the fans?

East is a district opponent and the games between Russell and East won't draw anywhere near the crowd that this game will. Raceland doesn't have that many more seats than what East Carter does and less parking. Its logistics. Its not personal and its not bitter.

 

That "tomb" is not the best gym around but its not the worst either. It was better than Raceland's old gym until they got the new one a couple of years ago. Which is very nice by the way. I have to say that I would like to see the gym at Russell renovated as well. That said, it has nothing to do with football or this game.

I don't get nostalgic over stadiums. Cameron Indoor doesn't do anything for me.

 

I have seen stadiums in Northern KY. Some have nice fields some don't. Shoot Russell's field is not good. You can't get grass to grow there, especially with as dry as it has been this year. God knows they have tried. I would like to see turf go in. But it does have the capacity to hold a bigger crowd much more comfortably.

Nobody ever said anything about wanting to play a doormat. There were talks with Highlands and Danville just to name a couple. When it couldn't be worked out and Russell had to have a game This is what was left.

 

In 2009 Ironton is on the schedule. We'll just have to see which of the current teams is left off.

I seriously doubt the Raceland game was (as you put it) "what was left". It was just more logical & realistic to play a competitive team that would be a good rivalry close to home...period.

 

If you really think Coach McGlone would rather play another "Lewis Co." type team (no disrespect intended) as opposed to a team that will help his team be better for the playoffs then you're sadly mistaken. I know that you have to play district teams, but this was (& is) far more logical (especially late in the season) than Danville or Fort Thomas.

 

The bottom line is that it's not a "slap-in-the-face" to play Raceland; Ashland does it, & the majority of Raceland's opponents are bigger in class except their district opponents.

I never said it was a "slap-in-the-face" to play Raceland. They are one of the top programs in NEKY with one of the best coaching staffs.

 

I also never said that McGlone or anyone else wanted to play a lesser calibur opponent. As far as getting a big name school it was on the table. There were also talks with schools from Ohio and West Virginia.

 

I'm very light hearted already.

Guys I have to work Friday evening,but I will be listening, an I think we can all agree the pride the alumni shows for both programs is unmatched. Best of luck to both teams, I pray there are no injuries to the players,cheeleaders or the fans an everyone enjoys themselves
