Joe Girardi- Great fit for a young Reds team, would get along with the fans and the management, unlike in Florida.

Bob Brenly- This would be a pretty good choice, better than Baker imo.

Tony LaRussa- My PREFERRED choice. He would bring the best pitching coach in the business with him, and since he does not like to be unliked as a manager, Cincy is a better fit than NYY.

Mackanin- I like the way he manages, I think they keep him as the bench coach if anything though.

Bobby Valentine- Pretty high-profile, good fit.

Joe Torre would be way too much money to pay.

I would not like Baker as the manager though, horrible choice to handle these young players and young pitchers.

What is it that makes Dave Duncan such a good pitching coach? With the Cardinals, his record is spotty at best.
The answer I was just given when I called to ask if this is true:

Ok I talked to my only Reds source last night. She's pretty close to the situation, and she wouldn't deny that he was getting hired. She's not allowed saying what's going on, but she hinted that Krivsky will be here next year and that Baker will be the manager. I know that she knows a lot about the Reds situation, but I don't know what she'll tell me or how honest she can be w/ me.

You know, after thinking about this all night.

I'm not all that opposed to it. My initial reaction was the same as everyone else's, but it's changing.

Dusty may be a bit of a weirdo, but he's not a terrible manager and he has credibility around the league, in terms of FA signings and players respecting him.

We don't know very much, Girardi, Brenly, others may have already turned this job down. Dutsy may be one of the best candidates out there.

And yes, I want a name, I want a proven guy who commands respect, I'm sorry but Pete McKanin is not that guy.

I will also qualify my previous statement. Dusty would definitely not be my first choice, but I could think of 100 worse choices. And only a few better ones.

You know, after thinking about this all night.

Commands respect from who, and how do you know that Pete McKannin is not that guy?

His players and the higher ups.

I'm not saying Pete is or isn't anything, I was saying he's not who I want.

Your avatar, and the above post, will not allow me to take you seriously...

If the Reds had veteran pitching, I MIGHT be okay with it. However, they don't and I'm not...

What I'm saying is, the Reds need to make a splash with this hire, enough promoting within, Dusty would sure do that.

Making a 'splash' and kicking and screaming are two different things...

Better?

Ok, well what if, like I mentioned above, the others that people want, Girardi, Macha, Brenly, Torre, Larussa, already told them, no chance?

Better?

Initially I thought it would matter, you have proven me wrong...:p
