October 10, 200718 yr I could see a senario of Les Myles going to Michigan and Petrino taking the LSU job. Petrino in the SEC would be very interesting.
October 10, 200718 yr Only one year in the NFL? I would expect him to give it more than that. Notre Dame or UM would be interesting. I don't see Carroll going anywhere as he has a pretty sweet set up. I think Pete Carroll will coach the San Diego Chargers some time in the next two years.
October 10, 200718 yr Didn't LSU have interest in him before? I can't imagine a situation where Petrino would return to Louisville. Think of it like the Pitino-back-to-UK situation. 1. Maybe, I honestly am not sure. I was just thinking of his reputuation for sticking it out at one place. 2. I certainly could, JMO but if Atlanta decided to oust him and U.L. / Jurich said come back, well the unless there was better offer on the table I could certainly see him back at his comfort zone. were thye still think that he can do now wrong. Again, JMO 3, His best opportunity maybe as M. Vick's "dog sitter" while Vick is away for a while.
October 10, 200718 yr If he can be back in the coaching ranks, I think he has put together a good enough resume to move to one of the elite schools where I think he could really flourish (this not meant as a shot at UL, just a fact). :thumb:This sounds much more like it, he is an ego maniac and would go to 1.) The Highest Bidder and 2.) Anywhere where he can etch his name in as "elite".
October 10, 200718 yr Wouldn't it be hilarious if he stayed in the NFL another 2-3 seasons, Brooks retires and UK hires Petrino.
October 10, 200718 yr Author ^ It would be up there with one of the #1 sports upsetting moments for me.
October 10, 200718 yr ^ It would be up there with one of the #1 sports upsetting moments for me. The way it was for Pitino to UL. Seriously, though, how ironically funny and fitting would that be.:jump:
October 10, 200718 yr I always thought that Petrino would make an excellant head coach in the NFL but I thought that Atlanta was a horrible, horrible choice for him. I really don't see him working out there, thus landing him back in college again and probably another stint in the NFL. I also really wouldn't mind seeing him come back to UofL but I don't see that ever happening.
October 11, 200718 yr Only one year in the NFL? I would expect him to give it more than that. Notre Dame or UM would be interesting. I don't see Carroll going anywhere as he has a pretty sweet set up. I can't see these teams being interested a a job hopper like Petrino. What is his longest tenure as a head coach? How many jobs did he interview for secretly? Not the character you look for to head up a program.
October 11, 200718 yr Wouldn't it be hilarious if he stayed in the NFL another 2-3 seasons, Brooks retires and UK hires Petrino. Rich Brooks wants to coach five more seasons before he retires to his home in Oregon.
October 11, 200718 yr I think Pete Carroll will coach the San Diego Chargers some time in the next two years. Bobby Petrino at LSU is not an impossibility. However, I think if Les Miles takes the Michigan job (I think he will), then LSU will be inclined to hire Bo Pelini as their next coach. Pete Carroll going to San Diego is a possibility, but I think he sticks with the college game. He is having too much success and too much fun!
October 11, 200718 yr I would think he would give the NFL more time. He walked into a whirlwind though! The thing about the NFL is that it doesn't take long to turn things around now days. I could see him being like Lou Holtz, Nick Saban, Pete Carrol, Steve Spurrier and realizing that they are just a better fit in college.
October 11, 200718 yr I talked to a source in Atlanta today that told me Blank is exploring his options on selling the team...
