October 3, 200719 yr Received word today, no link but truth, came from Jones, that during the JV game David is going to be moved to Half Back on Saturday. They told him he does well there, then they are going to move him from DB to HB. NO link but its truth. I just wonder how much field he would see with all of the talent, but he has great speed. I figured this was a move with the injuries at RB the team has had.

October 3, 200719 yr Author He's playing JV? They said they were going to play him at HB during JV game and let him get a feel for it. He started at DB, then WR, then back to DB. Thing is though he has second fastest fourty time on the team, and he did run an awful good reverse against Florida last year.
October 4, 200719 yr After playing against David in high shool, he is definitely fast enough to play the position. He has also gotten a lot bigger and stronger since coming to UK. It would be great to see him run the football for this team, but the thing I would be most concerned about is his vision, and ability to find the holes and follow his blocks. He did a great job running the ball in high school, but he didn't need that kind of vision to be an effective running back in high school. At this level, he will need that kind of vision.
October 4, 200719 yr Is he just that bad of a college DB that they keep moving him around on the field? He was signed to play at DB but that really hasn't panned out and the UK coaches realize he can run with football in hand. Why didn't he stick at receiver? Isn't UK loaded enough at RB or are the injuries to Dixon and Smith more serious than first thought?

I talk to David from time to time, and here is what he said on the move, it was his choice to be moved to WR, but the new defensive back coach was watching some film and came to Joker and was like hey you got a ton of receivers and we need the depth in secondary, so he went to DB.
October 4, 200719 yr Author I figured he would be more involved in the kick/punt return game this year. He had opportunity, but he missed first couple games if you remember and hasn't been healthy most of pre season. I think that and the fact of Burton and Little back there hindered that.

Remember the kid from Louisville just dusting him on the kickoff?
October 4, 200719 yr I used to think DJ was quick until he got left sitting against UofL and then McFadden made him look silly again.

October 4, 200719 yr He is not 100% healthy That might have something to do with it. Then my question is if after 4 or 5 games he is not healthy, why did he not take the redshirt year? They are obviously having trouble finding a spot for him. It would make sense to sit out the year and find a position and get acclimated to it.

It would make sense to sit out the year and find a position and get acclimated to it. It was the coaches decision not to red shirt him. David does has the pure speed, he ran a 4.31 40 in pro day and had a hurt knee then. But honestly he wasn't healthy all the way in the Louisville game and still isn't and who hasn't McFadden made look silly. I think red shirting would have been best for David also, he has the athletic ability to play several positions, but he does need to get healthy.
