"Gametime"......I know you are very good about having your facts in order, but the fact that Demitrius Jones would be eligible in the fall of 2008 at Cincinnati after starting the first game of the 2007 season at Notre Dame, does not sound right to me.

Also, the fact that UC is on a quarter system and thus, makes him eligible for the fall of 2008, doesn't hold water, in my opinion. The NCAA (crazy as they can be) would not allow an advantage to a school who was on a quarter system for transfers versus a school on semesters.

The rule on early year transfer is simple. You have to enroll at least 12 school days in to the start of classes to have it count as a full quarter or semester. On semesters the 12 class rule has passed. At UC they started class a week ago, and he will only miss 8 classes on the quarter system.

 

I'll see if I can find the exact % set by the NCAA on time in the game, but playing a quarter does not result in forcing an extra year. After I'm finished working I'll see what I can dig up...

To his credit Dustin will never let it show if and when it gets him down. He doesn't have the most talent in the world, but he always works his tail off to better the team...

I don't think this is correct, GT. It would be correct IF he got hurt and had to sit out but once he plays a down in a season, he cannot redshirt unless he's hurt.

His redshirt is already gone. I've been looking for the wording that would relate to this case but can't find it.....

I am pretty sure this is all right and he can play next year. It's probably 75% of the reason he is at UC, due to their Sept starting semesters.

I think he will be eligible because its a transfer situation. My original post dealt with the concept of redshirting rules but that was only if he was staying.

 

I found something that said "one year residency" so it looks like he will be playing sometime next year. My guess is that it will not be until classes start though.

I'm glad to see this come to be and really hope he can get it going when his time comes.

Wow. What a month this kid has had... talk about highs and lows. I hope he can bounce back and majorly contribute for the Bearcats!
