I was chatting up Beechwood football coach Noel Rash today in his office when the subject of Mainello (right) came up. Rash had mentioned to me earlier that he thought the junior two-way lineman might commit to a college before the end of the school year.

 

So I asked Rash what kind of schools we were talking about -- Western and Eastern Kentucky or UC and Louisville or ...

 

That's when Rash pulled out a stack of letters for Mainello. The one on top was from Florida. I'm pretty sure the one below it was from Nebraska. So that's what we're talking about.

 

I know hundreds of those letters go out from each of those schools, but that's still pretty good company to be in. For the record, it looks like the 6-5, 260-pound Mainello will play o-line in college.

Yes, Dominic is the real deal! He has all the size, talent and a great understanding of the game. He also has been to my house and is truly a great kid. It is refreshing to see someone have all these things and be humble. Good Luck Dom, you have a great future ahead of you, I am glad your a red and white tiger!

6'5 260 as a high school junior is a great base to work with if the talent is there. He seems to be bigger than the Robey kid from T who is getting a lot of looks. Heck, he's bigger than the Kiernan kid from NC.

 

It will be interesting to see what level of interest he gets.

Agreed on the "letters mean almost nothing." If this kid has talent to go along with his size as a 16 or 17 year old now, he'll have a solid chance.

Cherrish it, read 'em all, and when you're finished with them put 'em in a pile for when you have grand kids. Enjoy each and every visit you go on. Just being considered is an honor in itself, but being chosen is awesome. I'm sure you'll get plenty of offers. The hard part is choosing the one that's best for you.

Beechwood coach Noel Rash said yesterday in an e-mail that he expects junior defensive lineman Dominic Mainello (right) could commit to a college before his senior year begins. According to Rash, "The next several weeks will tell."

 

Mainello (6-5, 260), an Enquirer first team all-star for the Class 1A state champion Tigers, is being recruited by UC, UK, Florida and Michigan State according to Rash

According to a post in another thread...Coach Rash really promotes his players. WAY TO GO COACH!! And good luck to Dom! (Steer some of those coaches over Ft. Thomas way!! lol)

Dom is a great kid and phenomenal athelete. He is going to have an unbelieveable Senior year. Whatever college he chooses will be lucky to have him.

I know the kid is a great atlent and is really being looked at, but does he have any actual offers?

 

Not saying that he won't, but wouldn't it seem hard to commit if you didn't have any offers yet.
