September 27, 200718 yr I, honestly, do not see what all the argument is about. Having controlled hunts in urban settings is not unheard of. If fact it happens a lot. Cities around this country have annual hunts, some to control deer population, some to control bear population, some to control predator population. Fort Thomas is if anything is behind in this. Charleston, WV, which is a much larger city then Fort Thomas, is having a deer hunt this year due to overpopulation. As for relocaiton, where are you going to relocate them. Due to a drop in hunters in the state, the entire state is overpopulated with deer. I would be surprised if you could find an area that would let you relocate them to.

September 27, 200718 yr This isn’t just a Ft. Thomas problem. Bellevue, Dayton, Cold Spring, Highland Heights and even Newport are experiencing increased deer populations. I was on Division street in Bellevue yesterday and saw 3 deer just casually walking down the street without a care in the world. I think the above cities along with the Campbell County Fiscal court should get together to come up with a solution. This would take some of the financial burden away from the city and maybe open up different options that were dismissed because of money. That is crazy, Division Street??? There are no woods anywhere near that street. Did they stop in The B-List for a cold one?
September 27, 200718 yr I think it has a lot to do with the huge growth in real estate projects in the city. Maybe it wasn't as much of a problem in the past because we weren't running them off from the wooded areas. We're losing a lot of those wooded areas because they are building ginormous houses in those areas. Not saying I disagree with it, just saying that may be why it's a problem... Another topic but I will say I disagree with it. Lets face it, there is no undeveloped land in Ft. Thomas that isnt a wooded area. EVeryone needs to make a buck!!! No pun intended.
September 27, 200718 yr A few things they discussed. 1) They're shooting females only, which is ok with me in any species... 2) They discussed shooting the females with 'birth control' but it was too costly. 3) They discussed catching and placing them elsewhere but again, too costly. This may make the Males very very angry.

September 28, 200718 yr Why? Venison is tasty. Yes it is very but to go out an hunt the animal to eat is not what they are goin to be doing, sounds like to me they bait them in an just shoot them. They should let the bow hunter take them an try to control them with hunting.
