Had some pointed comments for Jesus and God on Sat night at the Emmy's. Her award was presented Sat night and not Sunday.

 

She said that some celebrities get up there and thank Jesus and she wanted to say that she wouldn't be doing that. Jesus had nothing to do with her winning and then further went on to say that the Emmy was now her God.

 

Sad comments and I hope someone in her life can show her the love, mercy and sacrifice of Jesus Christ for her before it becomes too late for her.

I don't find her funny. Never have.

I may not agree with her viewpoint, but I do have to admire her honesty. It's about time celebrities came out of the closet and let us know where their values are truly invested.

It was an extremely poor taste joke, from a woman who isn't funny.

Asked about her speech backstage a short time later, an unrepentant Griffin added, "I hope I offended some people. I didn't want to win the Emmy for nothing."

 

The speech drew fire from a leading Roman Catholic group, the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, which condemned Griffin's remarks as "obscene and blasphemous."

 

"It is a sure bet that if Griffin had said, 'Suck it, Muhammad,' there would have been a very different reaction," Catholic league president Bill Donohue said in a statement posted on the group's Web site. He called on TV academy president Dick Askin to denounce Griffin's "hate speech" and on Griffin to apologize.

I don't know why Christians are surprised or offended by this. We were told by Christ himself that we would be mocked and ridiculed. So I don't bristle at this, least of all from the likes of Kathy Griffin. Like LBBC, if ever I'm able to come into contact with her hopefully I get to talk about why she feels like she does, and certainly I will not bring up her atrociously un-funny comedy routines.

 

And yes 98NCCAlum, God and Jesus jokes go very well when intertwined with lawyer jokes, as in the one that ends "Oh yeah, God, where you gonna find a lawyer."

She wants attention and controversy. The Catholic League and I'm sure other religious groups will give it to her because it gives them publicity also.

 

As for me? Let her say whatever she wants as long as I'm free to ignore her. If Jesus takes issue with her statement I'm sure he has ways of dealing with it.

Humans marching under banners of their own making are prone to do anything, that doesn't make it faithful with the teachings they claim to defend.

 

Show me anywhere in the New Testament that Jesus instructs His followers to kill in his name and I'll concede your point. Otherwise, you're just stirring the pot.

Are we not supposed to be thankful for the blessings in our lives? What is wrong with a person receiving a blessing and thanking God for it? If they cannot thank God, should they not thank their parents either?
