I'm hoping for a big game from the Cardinals, but, at this point in the season, they're untested, while Graves already has 3 solid games under there belt with Ft Campbell, Tilghman and Marshall Co.. Graves size will give Mayfield some problems and I know Mayfield has some speed, but, Graves also has some prety good overall team speed.. I look for Mayfield to move the ball and put up some points, but, Graves will most likely put up a few more...I'll say Graves Co 34 Mayfield 21...

Graves will get this one with so much depth and an incredible offensive line.Graves by 14.

If Mayfield can play typical grind em out run offense and hold on to the ball for most of the game, I pick Mayfield to pull it out. Mayfield is untested at this point, but I look to the games that Graves has played thus far and they have allowed some points to be put on the board. In a shootout I think Graves will win but if Mayfield can hold onto the ball for the biggest end of the game I think Mayfield can pull it out. If that happens, I predict a low scoring affair, something like 21-14 Mayfield. If Mayfield makes a lot of mistakes, fumbles, we could have a repeat of last years game, something like 28-7 Graves.

Mayfield has to play 4 quarters.....last week Marshall only played three (they were up by 12 points in the 4 quarter) and Graves took that game in the end b/c they didn't quit. That to me says something about this years Graves team. Graves Co. is def the favorite in this game, BUT Mayfield can win provided they play smart football. Also, after all these emotional wins I feel Graves may come out with a big head and not ready to play, or they might think Mayfield will be an easy win considering GC beat Mayfield last year 28-0. IMO, this game is coin flip, BUT I expect a great game. Go Cards!!!!

Anybody know if Trevarthen is coming back for this game?

Yes Andy started practicing Monday and says he is ready and feels good. It will be a close game with both teams having solid defenses. If Mayfield can stop the run, I believe that the will have a good chance of winning. I say 17-14 Mayfield.

Tough game for Mayfield. We have the edge in overall team speed, they have the edge in line play and depth.Graves has to be the favorite but if we can get some solid line play I'm hoping to pull out a victory.

What depth are you guys talking about? They have just as many players going both ways as Mayfield does. If they have so much depth then why was conditioning a factor in the first two games for Graves?

Graves County has five kids going both ways and as far as the size advantage goes...they only have the size advantage at really one linespot on both offense and defense if you really stop and take a closer look at the matchups. Graves does have some big boys, but then again Brimer and Jones are not small for Mayfield on their line and the rest of our line matches up pretty well. Defensively we can rotate people in and out on the D-line, linebacker, and secondary...especially if Trevarthan is able to go near full strength this week. So the depth is not as big of an issue in this game as it might appear with Graves being 6-A and Mayfield being 1-A.

Good info:thumb: this is exactly what I was looking for. I just hope coach doesn't try the different look on offense this week, I think it confused our boys last year, just stick to what works.

We have been putting up pretty good numbers with what has been working...plus gotta feeling we have only been seeing a "vanilla" offense with the play calling ...I know he said Saturday morning that some of the players were wanting to run some of their other plays, but Coach Morris told them to be patient that we were saving them. I look for the Cards to open it up some more and show some new wrinkles this week on both offense and defense. Then again Graves will do the same thing...I am sure they have been saving some plays for this game. Should be a heck of a game whoever wins and should be a first-class atmosphere...nothing like nearly 7-8 thousand at War Memorial on a Friday night!!!

GO CARDS :fight:

The Mayfield boys are confident, I predict a victory.
