Kickers This Year

Featured Replies

Lafayette's kicker is awesome. Can hit from 55 yds off tee and holder in warmups. Also, against North Bullitt all 4 kickoffs were deep into endzone. A great weapon.

I was impressed by Glasgow Scotties Kicker #27 Drew Kuzma in the opening game of the Trice Hughes Bowl @ Caldwell County. He was 7 of 7 on PATS & was 7 of 8 on touchbacks. What an advantage it is to have the opponent start on its own 20.

I think over the past 10 years or so, HS Coaches have only now started realizing the benefits of having a great kicking game. Before, I believe it was more so just a dismissed aspect of the game that no coach ever wanted to devote the time to and just work on it a minimum. Traditionally speaking, in Western Kentucky, Mayfield and Murray always come to mind as schools that have produced wonderful kickers.

# 6 St Xavier Louisville Andrew Boscher!

He Kicks Off , Kicks PAT's, Kicks Field Goals, Punts very well , and after Friday nights game he passes the ball well also. My vote is for him.

Ryle's Jared Kaufman is excellent. I think he is averaging about 50 yards on punts over 2 games and has a very strong leg with lots of hang time on kick offs and punts. Certainly one of the best around this year.

Jason Nicholson has two 48 yarders for Dunbar this year. He is an even better Punter than place kicker.

This kid is amazing! He kicked a 46 yard field goal at Campbell Field this past Friday. It is a record for the stadium I understand. He is a D1 prospect right now IMO.

Kicking camps are what is helping the Kickers in the state of KY. Ten years ago not many kicking camps, now kickers are going to camps in the summer.

Don't care how strong of a leg you have, no form, no consistency, no good.

This kickers for KY has been going on for a while. Look at last year, three kickers at D-1A level two on scholly. Tiness (WKU)Tydlacka(UK) Popham(Wake)

Bathiany from Highlands last night put all but one of his kickoffs in the rear of the endzone, one actually was about a yard or two past the back of the endzone. I would think he has a future possibly as a kicker.

While certainly a weapon, I think the "kicking through the endzone on kickoffs" is somewhat overrated. College coaches actually ask for kickoffs that are very high, and also positioned such that the coverage team can make a stop BEFORE the 20. Kickoffs can certainly showcase a strong leg, and in high school are valuable because the coverage teams may not be all that good.

Better to me is the guy who can positionally (hashmark to hashmark) consistently hit field goals from 45 and in, and at least make you debate whether to kick or punt on say a 50 or 55 yard attempt. Lincoln County's people were telling me Friday that that is the way it was with Bell County's Merrick.

Also, deep, high positional punting can be devastating.

Our (Butler) punter/kicker Keinan Cullen punted 7 times vs. Eastern last Friday for a 49.4 average, including a 72 yarder. He also kicked off four times vs. John Hardin a week ago last Saturday, all four were touchbacks, three of which made the back of the endzone on a fly.

I would put Bell County's kicker up against anyone else in the state. He missed 1 in week 1 from 58 yards that had the distance, but just barely veered left. He also puts it in the endzone just about every kickoff. And is an excellent punter.

Wasn't there a Boscher (sp) who was a good place kicker for X a few years back? Any relation?

I wish we could find a kicker. Right now ours can't hit the broad side of a barn.

LCA's kicker is amazing as well...he was 100% touchbacks vs. Williamsburg...one went through the uprights. Only one other landed in the endzone while the rest were out of it...he didn't attempt a field goal, but I am sure he's good from pretty far out. Cannon of a leg no doubt...and he'll go to a big time school to kick if he so wishes.
