August 30, 200719 yr Most important part, right?! Ummm....I'll say no, so as to avoid excommunication!
August 30, 200719 yr I just found out yesterday at my church that they are going to have a gospel meeting on the weekend of the Paducah-Mayfield game. It starts at 7 PM each night starting on Friday night. I want to support the meeting by attending but I really don't want to miss this game, its one of the biggest rivalries in KY. This would be like missing the St. X-Trinity game if you were a fan of one of these teams. What would you do? I would go to the game. You do not have to attend every event that your church conducts.
August 30, 200719 yr Author I would go to the game. You do not have to attend every event that your church conducts. Well, what about Hebrews 10:25 that says "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Probably not a chance to get the revival moved to PT's parking lot before the game is there...have a tailgating service and then go inside and pray we beat Tilghman again this year.

Hehe, we will be driving to Paducah just as soon as its over, its my only plan at this time,
August 30, 200719 yr Well, what about Hebrews 10:25 that says "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." You are touching the bases if you are assembling yourselves together and listen to a little Steven Curtis Chapman on the way to the game. Then you arrive and exhort one another for 48 minutes. (longer if it's OT) Simple. :thumb:
August 31, 200719 yr You could , on the way to the game have your service while driving , a gathering doesn't have to be in a church or a lot of people. Go for it . ! !
August 31, 200719 yr Go to the game, Jesus doesn't hold grudges. Once in a while it would be OK, but not every week. Make sure the kids know you were thinking about going to church.
August 31, 200719 yr Where two or more are gatherered... My son's 10 year old baseball team was in a tournament this summer. We had the 10 oclock game in a county not close to our home. I took the opportunity at 9:30 AM in the dugout at the field to give them a devotion on that scripture. Read it to them and we discussed that we were two or more sitting there in the dugout. We were there gathered in that dugout in His name. Jesus was right there in that dugout with us. Now he wouldn't be pitching for us that day or hitting cleanup but that we could be out there playing and witnessing for him. I asked them why they thought Jesus said this. We came to the conclusion that the church, THE CHURCH, is not a building but instead each of us and each of them that called themselves Christians were THE CHURCH. And while it is good and necessary that we go and worship on Sunday mornings, it is more important that we live 24/7 knowing that we are out there pitching for Jesus and batting cleanup in His lineup that is our lives. It was one of the best things I have ever been part of. The kids really got into it. And then I took up a tithe and bought me a hot dog. Didn't really do that last part.
August 31, 200719 yr You didn't need the disclaimer at the end of your story. Nobody eats hotdogs at 9:30 AM.
August 31, 200719 yr Last I checked, a football game WAS a gathering. God is telling me that I should tell you to go to the game.
