Keemosabee, they do feed the players and give them plenty of fluids throughout the day. Keeping the team together after school keeps them focused, out of trouble, taking in appropriate amounts of liquids, watching film, and prepared mentally. Nothing about how Cobb runs this team is questionable or "ridiculous". What's ridiculous is this unusual blistering hot summer! It's not easy when your seniors, juniors, and sophomores have prepared for games the same way for their whole careers. However, heat has always been a topic of discussion in the first few weeks of the season. The fieldhouse isn't "miserable", but I think Somerset might need to start looking at adding a central air system to the fieldhouse or completely rebuilding.

I said in an earlier post and will say it again. Somerset has not conditioned much and it showed. I'm sure the heat was a factor in this so they need to be getting up earlier or practicing later. It's a sad day when the corn-fed country boys across the road are better conditioned than Somerset. When Somerset conditions adequately and players are still cramping up and getting outplayed, then I'll blame the fieldhouse.

..What is really sad is that the ole cornfed boys across the road have an air-conditioned fieldhouse with poweraid dispensers 24/7. Trust from thier Coaches and Familys. also a conditioning program year round. Pitiful..

SHS has year round conditioning program just has everyone else does. The air conditioning thing is a little blown out of porportion, if you are in a nice cold field house all day then come right out into the heat you would have issues as well. The lack on an air conditioneer wasn't an issue, in last nights game. God forbid Pulaski was actually prepared and executed their game plan. Let's give them some credit, quit making excuses and trying to place blame, and get back at it. These kids have worked there tales off and will continue to, as will the coaches. SHS will be fine. Thanks for the input from out in the county about everything you all think is wrong with our program, especially when you don't have a clu as to what is going on over here.

Pitiful is continuing to take shots at others.....not loosing a game:cool:

When I first saw the score in the thread title, I considered asking a mod to move this thread to the basketball forum. I bet this game was a lot of fun to watch.:thumb:

...Whether you want to hear it or not, we must being something right in conditioning. Not one Warrior down because of cramps whole game. Our Kids have gator-aid/ power-aid available 24/7. Since my reasoning is so wrong, what is your reasoning for all the cramping of your team from the get-go. I would like to know so as we never do it...

I noticed some SHS players out on the practice field w/ helmets on during the first game. Was that the high school or middle school team messing around out there? Can't wait for this heat to die down!

Yes, we know that. Would you please, please teach us poor city boys (that have only been playing football for 82 years more than you) how we should run our program. We'd really like to know how to lose as a number 1 seed in the playoffs in the first round. Something that Southwestern seems to have mastered..

Now now fella's, I think this is getting a little personal, yes Southwestern has lost in the first round of the playoffs a couple of times thanks to the likes of a very talented Dunbar team in 01' i believe it was as well as Bullit East, I believe who im sure the warrior faithful wouldn't like to talk about, but I think the only point being made here is, if you are having a football game that day, why for goodness sake would you be sitting in a hot room for 3 or 4 hours. whether you are practicing or not you are still robbing your body of energy somewhat. And as far as your comment losing in the first round, thanks for proving a point that I would like to get to, SHS has been around for 82 more years than the program at SWHS so of course the bad and the ugly are going to be more "out there," considering the program has been in existence for 13 years I believe, I dont know about you but I dont know many schools who in their first years came and won the state championship, (besides mercer of course) which was consolidated by 3 schools I believe. However you did fail to mention that for the past 2 seasons SW has won more playoff games than any of the games before that which I believe is none. I dont think you can consider the SW program as "an easy first round knockout team," anymore.

Mercer was a consolidated team of Mercer and Harrodsburg, not 3 teams. Southwesten last year managed to win 2 playoff games for the first time in their history. However, the playoff system was changed so they played against their own district opponents in round one and two. Southwestern does, however, have the record for losing (in the original playoff system) the most times as a #1 seed to a #4 seed. But hey, SHS can use all the help that they can get because they obviously can't tackle anyone. Please SW tell us how to play football

... Oh I see, it is okay to dish it out but do some of us have a hard time taking?...  :sleep:I will also tell that game film is available on tackling. We had alittle problem with the Rock, but would go out on a limb and say I wish we had the same opportunities PC had, with our Defense SHS would NEVER score that many points, IMHO...Hopefully SHS and SWHS will go at it next year if SHS does not try to weasel out...

Noone really is questioning coach Cobbs decisions on gameplay; at least im not, but I was just curious why you wouldn't condition and be more concerned about your players stamina going into a game when alot of them go both ways. And it is beyond me why as much money as the Somerset school district has why they cant afford a new central air system for their pride and joy which is SHS football or SHS sports in general for that matter, I mean you would think they would be right on top of it but obviously not, or maybe they are still a little ticked off at Cobb for when he was going to leave his players in the dust like he did (before he came back).

Actually I think it was you that was telling us about our shortcomings. I can take it just fine--I'm just waiting on you to teach us Southwestern's championship philosophy that has worked so well over the years.

I wasn't trying to say that SHS mistreats or abuses their players, they run their program well. The simple fact was that, in my opinion on that night with the heat of the day, and the length of time until kickoff, Hines had the better play. I'm sure that Cobb had his kids hydrating and fed but with the temp as it was, having the team together in a cool place would have been the better choice IMO.

I agree with you on the blocking by the receiving corps, didn't hardly touch Muse or Hines upfield.

"The corn-fed country boys"--if you will check YOUR sports rosters you will find most of them neighbors to those country boys. Maybe all of those kids on that tuition list need to eat some "corn". My children go to the county and we don't even own a tractor--hard to imagine huh:confused:

I think it is play is a strong district against great competition, and not worry about travel miles!:D
