Wow! I was against charges from the beginning till the security cameras showed she had made several trips out to her car. Not sure I was for charges but could definitely see how they have the evidence to pursue charges.

 

I pray now that God will provide her and her family with some comfort and wisdom. Not sure how He can do that, but that is why He is God and I am not.

She remembered to go get the doughnuts from her hatchback but forgot all about that poor little baby...

According to WLWT News, police files indicate she had left the girl in a car on numerous occasions, including at least once in the week prior to the girl's death! Investigators discovered that Nesselroad-Slaby also had left the girl in the car while she was at the Compass School in Mason. They said that some of the reports were documented, while others were not. The report indicates that investigators were pushing for a child endangering charge.

I think the prosecutor screwed up on this one. It should of at least been presented to the Grand Jury.

In the Enquirer, the prosecutor said she knows her actions caused her child's death and that he cannot imagine what he could do as a prosecutor to make it any worse for her.

At this point, I'm concerned as to whether this was willful or accidental homicide.

The prosecutor seemed comfortable that is was an accident. And the Enquirer stated that Ohio law doesn't allow for the prosecution of someone on that charge of child endangering if a death is a result of an accident.

I would like to know how long she left her daughter in the car on those occassions. If it was while she was running in and out and last a minute, that is one thing. For awhile is something different.

Well on one occasion it was over 10 minutes, I am guessing at least 15. This was just two days before the time the child was left inside the car and died. And school officials warned her in the past about leaving the baby in her car.

 

....Tara Phillips, a teacher at Compass School in Mason, told police that Nesslroad-Slaby asked her 5-year-old daughter to hurry up during an Aug. 21 visit to the school because “the baby was in the car."

 

Phillips told police that the older girl asked to stay and watch part of a play she was participating in, and both she and her mother stayed inside the building for 10 more minutes.

 

“Mom didn’t go to check on the baby,” investigators said in their report.

 

Police said school officials had cautioned the Slaby family about leaving their children alone inside vehicles after parents alerted them to the situation.
