This is heartbreaking and says alot about how busy our society is and how we all need to slow down. This woman will be a wreck for a very long time and never live this down. I feel for her. I have a 10month old and although usually very loud in the car, sometimes she naps and it is easy to get out without thinking she is in the car. It happens, there is no particular social class that this happens to. I just urge everyone to always check the backseat in this kind of weather no matter what.

 

I also think that downtown parking garages, suburban parking lots, etc should all be patroled in this heat by security officers or regular police patrols looking for these types of situations. Too many times parents leave kids in cars because they think 5 or 10 minutes buzzin in to get milk or something is no big deal. It only takes 4-6 minutes in 90 degree heat to kill.

I can't even imagine what she is going through with killing her child, but the law is the law and if there is any laws she should face those penalties as well.

They didn't do it on purpose, but all are negligent. All of the examples above parents have been charged with, even if their child died. Many Many other parents have been charged on other things being negligent as well as if their child died. There is simply no excuse.

But I would say people's time would be best serve checking on elderly relatives and neighbors in hot as well as cold weather, as you know they are out there and where to find them.

She needs to be in JAIL..period! She still has not been arrested. I can not believe that. I just saw it on the news and am actually sick that no one arrested her!! She must know someone in that area, but I wouldn't care who she knew, She would be in the back of a cruiser.

 

And now the Police need to patrol for parents doing there jobs (being parents). Are you kidding me?? If I did see a kid in the back of a car with the windows rolled up and I found out who the parents were you can bet your tail that that parent would not like the concrete cells at the Boone County Radisson.

 

That's the problem with society today in general. Everyone is in too big of a rush to go NO WHERE...That's why she left her baby in the back. She was in a hurry to get to work because she was running late. That's my guess, but I'll bet I'm right. Now we will never know because she checked into a psych ward. I think she did that because she had an Attorney friend call her and tell her that if she didn't do that she would definately be arrested and would probably lose her job. It's a joke!! I don't know if I am right, but man I sure would love to find out because I am furious about this small child losing it's life over this woman's stupidity!!

 

I'm so glad I got to vent..sorry if I offended anyone but it's the way I feel about this situation. If everyone would just slow down in there day to day lives a lot of things would change. We would see a lot less road rage, accidents, and people leaving there kids in cars!! Think back to when times were slower and frankly better! We only live once, why do it in such a big rush!

I have heard their is an alarm for car seats. From what I understand if the seat is latched and you get out of the car and are so many feet away from the car seat, an alarm attached to your keys sounds. Like I said I haven't seen this myself, only heard about it from someone else. Seems like it would be a good idea to have this.

Agreed, it's horrible, and something no one should have to deal with, unfortunately in this case it sounds like it merely came in the shape up too much on ones mind and or forgetfullness. Can't even imagine how this family feels right now.

So do you think enforcing the charges and making them serve longer sentences will decrease this number? just curious because I am a firm believer that forgetfullness is not a decision. I dont strap my kid in everyday and think to myself, if I leave her in the car and she dies I might face a tough jail sentence so I better not do that.

 

It is what it is, its a tragedy and the parents will suffer enough through knowing they did what they did. Personally, if I did that, I don't know if I could live with myself.
