August 21, 200719 yr The SEC has definitley made it's claim to fame to be a Top Tier basketball conference, but I wouldn't call them the King of College Basketball.
August 21, 200719 yr So when the SEC in basketball was having no teams make the final four, that was the excuse try to use to say the SEC wasn't the best conference. But now that we have had a team win back to back championships, and another team make the final four in the last 2 years, it still does not make it the best? I mean the SEC is doing now what people said it needed to do be the claimed as the best conference in basketball. People need to make up their mind instead of changing their argument in trying to say why the SEC is not the best... I not saying the SEC is way ahead, because its very close when it comes to basketball. However with what you all were using as standards before was postseason success and the last 2 years the SEC has done it... The SEC is probably #2, maybe #3.....I still think that in this decade the ACC is king, with 3 champions, and double that in Final Four appearances.
August 22, 200719 yr If they ever went to a system with 6-8 teams or what not, and made 3-4 of them SEC every year, I think you'd have an SEC champion just about ever year. Sure people are gonna say well yea they've got a 50/50 chance. That's just the truth, the SEC is by far the toughest league to play in year in and year out for College Football.
August 22, 200719 yr The SEC won the NCAA in basketball the last two seasons, but the conference as a whole, is not the KING of college basketball. They've won 10 national titles over the years. But I agree, with the exception of Kentucky, the SEC has not traditionally been a national conference powerhouse. However, I think that is getting ready to change.

The last few years 2 behind ACC, but year in and year out not 3. And right now I dont think SEC is to far to catching back to ACC. Both are great conferences. As far as football SEC comparable to anybody really isnt what I would call an argument.
