Let me say this about John Cole. I was one of the officials tonight and got to see him up close. This kid is the real deal, no doubt whatsoever! He is the best HS receiver I have seen since witnessing Randy Moss firsthand in WV. I am not saying he is Moss, but this kid is excellent. Decent size, outstanding speed and quickness, runs great patterns, great leaping ability and first class hands.

He is also a first rate kid on the field. He was the best player on the field for either team tonight, hands down. I like the big fullback #30 as well. Big strong runner who will take tacklers with him.

I was impressed with some of NL's new coaches. Roark is Mr Enthusiasm and you can tell he loves the game and loves the kids. GREAT pickup for the NL staff. Give this staff time and they will have a solid program at NL.

All in all a very good scrimmage. NL broke some big plays but only managed 2 TD's. Again, I cannot emphasize just how good John Cole is. It was perfectly clear to me why Stanford and other big schools want him. I would LOVE for UK to go after this kid. A big time player IMHO.

What other new coaches did North hire??? I don't never hear much about the happenings at North.

I don't know any of the coaches but they seemed to keep the kids very motivated one way or another. One coach had them doing push ups on the field during the scrimmage, my kind of coach:ylsuper: .

Is he the starting catcher on the baseball team? If so, he's got a cannon of an arm.

Yes, I'm pretty sure he was the catcher.

I saw a kid from Somerset on D that impressed me. He was pretty quick and a good sized player with a high motor. Since we're up against the Jumpers at the Correll Bowl, he looks pretty good on the D-Line. What's his story.

Haven't seen Somerset in a couple of years and worked in London Friday night so I thought I'd peek at our opponent. Never heard of him but he hits hard.

Mountain Thunder you were there, what do you think?

Megargel is #11 and he is a senior, he is a big kid (6'4 or 6'5 220 lbs) and he does play with a great motor.

Yes, he was the starting catcher for the baseball team.

Thanks for the update. Number 11 looked taller than 6'2 or 3, from where I was. Unless Somerset is a short team, he looked like the tallest player on the team (not that it matters unless a kid wants to go to the next level).

Either way, his speed will cause PC trouble on the line unless they can contain him.

Somerset isn't really a tall team. Megargel and Coomer are the teams two tallest players. Let me rephrase that he is around 6'4.

The kid Coomer, is he #8? At these scrimmages, you don't know who they are. I think #8 was a nice player as well with good hands. He seemed to compliment Cole real well. The two big running backs for Somerset also were impressive, hard runners.

I still think PC's line will contain Somerset and Muse will have a field day on the secondary. It should be a high scoring game when they meet in two weeks.

Yes, Coomer is #8 and he is a nice reciever to have across from Cole, Good size and strength with hands.

Field Day!!!!! Like I said, I like Chris Muse alot. But field day on the SHS secondary, IDK. If you are taking that from what you saw at Laurel Friday then you should know the red zone score by the No. Laurel Varsity was made with at least 3 maybe 4 freshmen in at DB's (getting reps with the varsity).

Those are some pretty big words, saying that an unexperienced and unproven QB will have a field day against an experienced group of Jumpers.

Ok, field day may have been a little strong but Muse is very mobile and an accuarte passer. He will pick his receivers wisely and move the football very well against the Jumpers' secondary. Cobb doesn't like to blitz or even pressure the QB from what I heard and saw Friday and you can't let Muse have that time to throw.

I stand by my statement that they will have a good night offensively against the Purple team. With a little luck and some key plays/turnovers, the Maroons will be in the win column @ Ray Corell. Just my opinion.

Roark (former assistant at Bell Co), Collier (former player at Laurel County), Dagley (from Tennessee) and one more but for the life of me I cannot remember his name. I was impressed with all of them, especially Roark. That man was everywhere. He was the coach who made the offense do grassers after a play where he felt noone did their job. The next play was MUCH better. He also was very positive, finding kids with their heads down and encouraging them. I was really impressed with him.
