I really just want Will's nerves, and O-Line a little more settled by BG.

Thought some of the Scott Co. skill kids showed alot of promise and were competitive. I do compliment them for scrimmaging the Rocks year in and year out. Anyone else hear the Scott Coach "chastising' his team all the way across the field.............I know these games are for teaching and improvement..etc.....but thought his conduct was not called for......and out of place

I disagree.

Jim McKee has a big voice that carries.

Trinity seated all spectators of the home side so there was no background noise to drown him out.

He didn't curse (that I heard) and he really didn't berate his players. IMVHO he said nothing that was out of line and because of the conditions fans were able to hear sounds for the sidelines that they normally aren't able to hear.

Football coaches yell, some yell alot. It's part of the game.

Worlds are colliding. AllTell is defending Jim McKee, one of the top 5 "public" supporters in the state.:thumb:

I second All Tell. I was not at the scrimmage but I have been at several other SC/T scrimmages and SC games and Coach McKee has never been abusive, just passionate and loud.

I will third and pass the motion that coach Mckee was loud and passionate about getting his players to do things the right way and play hard but he was not negative or abusive.

We may not agree regarding the public/private issue and I may think that his arguments there have more holes then a Dunkin Donuts shop BUT I have never seen Jim McKee on the field demonstrate anything but and intense desire to succeed as well as a very good knowlege of the game of football. His teams are well coached and well prepared. While I will join in with anyone that wants to deride his views on a public/private split I am more then happy to defend him from what I see as unwarrented criticism about his coaching methods.

All of those reasons make it all the sweeter when we come out with the upper hand on them.:thumb:

I may have to agree about the O-line settling down abit (sure hope Xgrad doesn't see me saying this). But, if you think about it, you take a 2 year all state right tackle then move him to the left side, couldn't this mess with the chemistry? Overall, the O-line didn't do too bad, just timing issues. Defense put on a good showing, Scott had some long runs but T's defense didn't break. What a goal line stand at the 1...Next scrimmage game should bring more excitement..

Sure...we have awhile, I look for improvement this Friday, and if that is the case...we are A-OK.

One last comment, it didn't happen this past Friday, but I hope Coverdale makes the following happen this Friday. Find a chance to punt and kick a 20-30 yard field goal. TD's are great, but pre-season experience kicking the ball, I think would be good.

^ Zlaton is a fine kicker...they will have worked on that plenty...

2006 - Trinity punted 28 times in 15 games

2005 - 35 times in 15 games

2004 - 36 times in 12 games

2003 - 41 times in 15 games

2002 - 30 tmes in 15 games

2001 - 29 times in 14 games

2000 - 33 times in 15 games

Not a bad decade huh?

I know Z is a fine kicker but you should work on all aspects of the game in a scrimmage. Besides Z kicking a field goal or punting it 50 yards, you need to look at the other 10 players. That's all I'm saying. Out of all those stats, how many times did Z punt it the last 2-3 years? IMO he was a better kick off kicker last year than the kid who went to U of K.

Z's hang time has improved on kickoffs which is probably why he only had 3 of 6 touchbacks and why the touchbacks were less than 5 yards deep.

I think Beatty plays the better guy at every position, kickoff kicker included

Z is a fine kicker and I look for great things to happen to him this year. I agree that it would be a good idea to get a FG and a couple punts, to see the other 10 guys and get Z used to the get off time on a punt since he has only punted JV the last 2 years.
