August 8, 200719 yr I sort of feel the same way about throwing at batters as I do managers being allowed to come out and get in shouting matches with umpires (and both get away with it). Both are really dumb concepts if you think about it and good examples are not set for the youth or for anyone else for that matter. It goes back for years and to think against that line of thinking is a sin in baseball world.
August 8, 200719 yr to me, it's a cause and effect thing... AROD yells, AROD gets plunked... thats it, game over end of story... BUT Toronto started something else when they hit him again, so that is a new cause, which would make Rios getting plunked the effect... now say Toronto is mad again and hits beans someone again the next time they play, then they started something again, and should expect something in return...
August 8, 200719 yr Why did Clemons wait until the 7th inning and pick this particular batter? Rios is like the Blue Jays ARod. As to why he waited so long who knows. I guess he wanted to make sure they had the win in hand first. He isn't making 28 million to get thrown out.
August 9, 200719 yr Why did Clemons wait until the 7th inning and pick this particular batter? You never get comfortable in the box against Roger. Now add in the fact that you KNOW Roger is going to retaliate. Those batters were all on the bench every inning wondering the same thing: Is this the inning I get nailed? They went all of those innings without ever being able to dig in.

That's a good point, I didn't think of that one, and I believe you are right.
