August 8, 200719 yr I actually wish the reds would do more of this. When was the last time we had a good old bench clearing brawl and or have one of our pitchers intentionally hit a batter in retaliation?
August 8, 200719 yr If it's one of my players, it's high school or D knothole. Yeah, I'd have a bit of a problem with it. Apples and hand grenades, since he didn't throw at his own teammate... But, that guy could have charged the mound and Clemens could have been injured, or the MLB could suspend him, or he could have injured his arm on that pitch...how would that help the Yankees?
August 8, 200719 yr Author But, that guy could have charged the mound and Clemens could have been injured, or the MLB could suspend him, or he could have injured his arm on that pitch...how would that help the Yankees? You've resulted to 'could've'? As shown by giving him 'high 5's' as he was walking in the dugout, and as shown by putting up a few runs immediately after ARod was hit; the team would rally around them and it may bring them closer. Fighting someone else is more bonding than fighting each other...
August 8, 200719 yr I can't put into words how much respect I have for Clemens... Tensions fuel Yanks Vince Young smacks one of his own players for a dirty hit on one of his receivers and you get all offended. Yet you celebrate a pitcher intentionally throwing at an opposing player. Let's just say I'm a bit confused.
August 8, 200719 yr Michael Vick smacks one of his own players for a dirty hit on one of his receivers and you get all offended. Yet you celebrate a pitcher intentionally throwing at an opposing player. Let's just say I'm a bit confused. I believe people are offended by Michael Vick's other reasons I know you mean Vince Young, just messing with ya.

Yet you celebrate a pitcher intentionally throwing at an opposing player. Let's just say I'm a bit confused. What's confusing about one person fighting with HIS teammate and another person fighting with the OTHER team, in retaliation? Not sure what's so confusing about that. I wasn't 'offended' because Vick started a fight, I said that it was the wrong thing for a leader to do. Fighting's part of it, that's not the problem...
August 8, 200719 yr UK...You hope they throw at A-Rod every time he comes up? If yelling at a opposing team member when he is catching a fly ball, the worse thing he could do, so be it. I've played base/softball since I was 6 years old and as an adult I never, ever dropped a pop up fly ball. The Blue Jay has been flapping his gums at A-Rod and its time to move on. UK...Oh...never mind.
August 8, 200719 yr Yep. I'm sure it was as refreshing to them as it was to me... And me............that is a teammate.:thumb:
August 8, 200719 yr Blah, blah, blah... Intentionally throwing at someone's head, deserves suspension. Protecting your teammates deserves respect... :thumb: :thumb:
August 8, 200719 yr I believe people are offended by Michael Vick's other reasons I know you mean Vince Young, just messing with ya. Nothing like stomping your foot in indignation, only to find you stomped a pile of poo.

August 8, 200719 yr Author I'm stunned that so many of you are encouraging throwing at another player. It's deeper than that. He didn't throw at his head, he didn't throw at his legs, he wasn't trying to hurt him. He threw # high towards his back to send a message. This is no different, IMO than a d-lineman taking a head shot at a defenseless QB. He gets a 15 yd penalty, in baseball you get ejected. To further clarify, this in no way is acceptible to me at any other level than MLB. However, if Clemens doesn't do it ARod may get thrown at again and again. I'm stunned that people believe it's ok to start a fight with a TEAMMATE but not the OTHER team...again, in retaliation...
August 8, 200719 yr I'm stunned that so many of you are encouraging throwing at another player. I was talking of retaliation for an oppponet throwing at a teammate and not throwing at the head or knees. Clemens put a fastball on the numbers and made a statement.
August 8, 200719 yr Maybe we should teach this at the high school and little league levels too. After all, good sportsmanship is for wimps.
