I pronounce it App-uh-lay'-che-in or App-uh-lay'-chin.

Interesting poll results. I don't know everyone's residential home, but based on the ones I do know, it looks like most of the residents of the area use the Appa-latch-un pronunciation and most of the non residents use the Appa-lay-shun pronunciation.

I used to pronounce it Appa-layshun until I had a teacher that told us it was a mortal sin.

If there weren't twice as many rednecks in Western Kentucky that would be funny.

I've lived in both and Western Kentucky rednecks make Eastern Kentucky rednecks look charming, and there's way more of 'em out West.:laugh:

The college in VA is pronounce Appa-layshin , and that is the way I pronounce our area.
