A measure of total offensive value per out, with corrections for league offensive level, home park, and team pitching. EQA considers batting as well as baserunning, but not the value of a position player's defense. The EqA adjusted for all-time also has a correction for league difficulty. The scale is deliberately set to approximate that of batting average. League average EqA is always equal to .260. EqA is derived from Raw EqA, which is (H + TB + 1.5*(BB + HBP + SB) + SH + SF) divided by (AB + BB + HBP + SH + SF + CS + SB). REqA is then normalized to account for league difficulty and scale to create EqA. As of today, Dunn is 20th in the NL .

If you have to do that you still have the issue of improving the pitching staff. Are the Reds willing to commit to extra payroll to improve the staff enough to overcome any dropoff in offensive production?

Why do we have to replace his offensive production? I believe like some others throughout this thread that his production can be replaced in a couple of ways. Solid major leaguers, not necessarily HR hitters. Eliminate 125 whiffs a season and you've inherently improved your productive AB's. Like someone said earlier about the Mariners when they let Jr. or A-Rod go, they didn't replace that production apple for apple, yet managed to be more than competitive. I'll do my best Strike3 retort here,,,,,,,pitching! We lead the league in HR's and still suck FWIW.

But the Cubs wouldn't get him period. The Rockies would get him if all those teams put a claim on him. Now if just the Braves and Cubs put a claim on him then the Cubs would get him. The Braves would have to end up having a worse record than the Cubs before that to happen, and at this point they don't. I didn't know we were using different situations. But as of today the Braves would unlikely put a claim on him.
