He isn't one of my favorite players,a nd not cause of steroids cause that isnt proven. But he just sin't one of my favorites, but I am glad to see him get the record he is a awesome hitter.

It's been said above, but the steroids era didn't just effect batters, it was in pitchers, too. If everyone was juicing, doesn't that create a level, albeit powerful, playing field?

As I've noted before in threads on this subject, we have leaked grand jury testimony that he took them "unknowingly" (his words). And as I've said before ignorance is not bliss. If you are ignorant of the speed limit because you did not both to note the signs telling you the limit, that is not going to absolve you of the ticket you receive when you are pulled over. So too with Barry who if he truly did not know, ignored many signs that he was in fact taking steroids.

 

And in a court of law you do not always need a smoking gun. People seem to believe that the only acceptable proof that Barry did anything would be a video tape of him doing it. There is evidence such as the freakish growth of his body and statements by suppliers that he was given and took steroids. That's proof.

 

Barry is and has been one of the greatest players in the game. He belongs in the Hall of Fame with other great players. But I in no way believe that he did not approach this record, held by as revered a man as any in the game, without cheating. And I would like to think well of Barry, that somewhere in his gut, his cheating will haunt him.

Forget that. I was over by the park today and asked a scalper how much he wanted for 2 seats to tonight's game - $100 for upper upper deck seats.

While I am very opposed to Bonds' body-enhancement tactics, I am absolutely 100 percent certain he would've made the hall without the steroids. He was definitely one of the best players in the game before his "growth spurt."

Until a court of law proves he KNOWINGLY took steroids, everything else is just the opionion of a certain person...That hasn't happened, it won't happen, and he will break the record...Go Barry!

If the speed limit were at all like the steriod issue, you might have an arguement. With the technology and advance medicine we practice today in our country, it would be very easy to take something that someone told you was one thing, and served a completely different purpose. There are steroids on the market that still can't be detected, because they don't know what to look for. To think that someone couldn't take steriods without knowing what it was is silly, IMO.

It is possible to take it for a while, yes. How many of us would not ask the obvious questions when things happen to our body that shouldn't? Add to that that athletes are typically fanatical about what they put in their body and so unusual results are typically met with questions. But that particular bit is just speculation.

 

Fact remains that you are liable for things that you do unknowingly. Not just stuff as trivial as a speed limit, but any laws. Ignorance is never a complete excuse.
