July 24, 200719 yr Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor in the NKY area? I messed up my back a few weeks ago, and every time I think it's getting better, it gets worse. Right now, it's probably the worst it's been, and my stubborn self has finally decided to see a doctor. :irked:

He then can give you his idea as to what the problem may be and will more than likely recommend an MRI. This will allow you to find what is causing your back pain and what treatment would be best for you. A bad back can be a serious life changing problem and should be taken care of as soon as possible. A Chiropractor can be helpful for many problems but I would recommend finding the problem first. Just my opinion and I hope you find a solution to your back pain soon. I have had several back surgeries and speak from my experience.. I would not put off seeking help and would make the call today.

July 24, 200719 yr Mike Thompson is the best. Bellevue office. That's who I would recommend as well. I had to visit him a few times when I messed up my back my junior year of high school. He was awesome.

My dad had back surgery a few years back, and they really screwed him up. There's no way I'm going to the place he went. I've never had back issues linger this long. It's usually a week, and I'm back to normal. Everyone keeps recommending a chiropractor, so that's why I asked for one. I tried calling my family doctor for a referral or recommendation to a specialist, and they told me to go to the ER. There's no way I'm going to the ER for this. I'll sit there for hours before I get moved to another area where I'll sit for hours again.
July 24, 200719 yr I think I would see a sports medicine physician first. It commits you to nothing and doesn't rule out you seeing a chiropractor.

July 24, 200719 yr Thanks for making me even more confused. :irked:  If its something like torn lats, inflamed trapezius, herniated disc, you don't want a chiropractor jerking on it. You don't have to commit to surgery and the fix might be as simple as an anti-inflamatory and rest. On the other hand, it gives you information to take with you when you visit the chiropractor.

I understand your feelings with what your dad went through but for every bad story there is a good one to follow as well. I have experienced both. I was unable to walk until I had surgery and wish I had it done long before I did. I suffered for 2 years with extreme pain all while going back & forth to a Chiropractor who treated me for a pulled back muscle. The visit to my specialist and an MRI immediately told me what the real problem was. I had the surgery and was back to work in just six weeks. One thing to remember is that something is causing your problem to re-occur. Finding the cause and treating it is IMO far more superior than treating a sympton. Shame on your family DR. for not giving you more help. Most that I know of would be glad to offer you help. If he were my family Dr. I would be looking for a new one soon. As I said, I was only offering some advice for a problem that I have also had. I understand your pain and it isn't fun.

Like you, I decided to wait until I absolutely could no longer bear the pain(it actually got to the point where I couldn't turn my head) before my visit. Dr. Storms did recommend an MRI and some x-rays, and we isolated the problem and treated it. I just wish I had done it sooner......can't believe I walked around with all that pain for so long.....
July 25, 200719 yr I had two back surgeries and at times I wish I had not had them. About a month ago I hurt my back playing golf and I went to Phil Dinn, Main Street, Florence, Kentucky. I went to him for a month and I have felt so much better and he took the time to explain why I was hurting. I plan on going to him at least once a month. He has done wonders for my back and legs. I highly recommend him. JD
