Thoughts?

He is another of the long line of football coaches at UC who have bemoaned this point and may have taken it a step further than the previous coaches.

Do I agree with him?

Not really, I can understand he wants to defend his players and program, but to me it is simply supply and demand.

If there was a demand for UC football coverage then they would cover it with a beat writer. The Enquirer had a freelance writer there for it.

Budgetary reasons may be an issue just like it is for everything. If the demand was there for UC football news then the papers would cover it more frequently than it does.

It is not the job of the media to promote a program, it is the job of the university.

They seem to be making an effort...60 dollars for a season ticket is a bargain...60 bucks may get you one ticket at a game at a game for another school.

Just don't get how it is the fault of the media for not promoting a program.

No bigger waste of print space that coverage of conference media day. If the Enquirer is watching expenses, I have no problem with their decision.

I think Kelly understands that but is wanting to support his boys. I'd probably do the same.

Wow! Lets not pull any punches!!!!! I like it

It's his job not to.
No it's his job to put up some wins, when he does the media will follow.

Bashing the media is not a way to "educate" the masses.

UC has a nice little program, that seems to be improving, and are in a great conference to have some sustainable success.

They deserve better fans than they have.

Their football fanbase is as apathetic as any you can find in college football.

Agreed to an extent.

They have been to a few minor bowls over the last few years, so they have won some games, and have a few nice wins under their belts.

Their fans don't care.

If their fans don't care and do not attend football games, what do you think is an impetus for the media to cover them? Zero to none.

When the Reds season is essentially in the tank and football begins cranking up, the Reds are relegated to the third of fourth page of the sports section in the paper come September. If there was a demand for Reds coverage and they are winning it is front page news above the fold.

UC football has won to an extent but very few care....therefore they do not warrant the coverage Brian Kelly thinks they do, because there is not a demand for it.

Again...there are not as many sports to cover in Louisville, Morgantown, Storrs and so forth, so they can allot many writers to such media venues.

Cincinnati doesn't have that luxury, hence it goes back to simple supply and demand of what people want to read about.

iF YOUR FANS DON'T CARE WHY SHOULD THE MEDIA..:thumb:
Agree or not the new coach came out firing and if his team does the same things might just change.

I agree that could happen but his job should be to concentrate on his players improvement and their ability to win games. If they win the positive media coverage will take care of itself. If they have a lousy season he has set himself up for more ridicule and a feeding frenzy from the media.

I agree with everything you said. In short, it is LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION and UC football is in a crowded location where they are far from being the top dog.

IMHO, Coach Kelly needs to pack Nippert for every home game and everything else will take care of itself.

Getting attention of the fans, recruits, and media is exactly why he did what he did.
