statmanhensley
Seeing as to how the other thread on youth baseball in this forum is kind of taking a turn as to comparing the two different leagues, I thought I'd ask what your local youth teams are playing in? I know that when I went back home a couple weeks ago, I found out the Rockcastle County had switched to Cal Ripken from Little League. When I asked a friend of mine why this happened, he told me it was because of the insurance factor. Little League's insurance policies run out on a league as soon as the all-star team has completed its post-season run BUT as for Cal Ripken, its insurance policies are for the entire season so when a league's all-star teams post-season run is over, they can still form tournaments and play thus getting the kids more playing time. At least that is what I was told.
HDE
I hate to hear that about Rockcastle In this region, the Little League programs are: Harlan Tri-City Leslie County Hazard Middlesboro Pineville/Bell Knox Williamsburg Corbin North Laurel South Laurel Pulaski County Burnside Wayne County Clay County McCreary County Jackson County
katbird
In Northern Kentucky it is mostly Knothole or Little League for the younger kids.. The better players start to play select around 10 or 11 which is AABC or USSSA..
woodsrider
Henderson plays Cal Ripken. Not sure why, they just always have.

Big Slick
I just knew they had teams in these tourneys, did not think they were the best but had no knowledge of anything else just answering the question to the best od my ability, both always have top notch high school programs. Just recalling the teams I seen while umpiring various tourneys, look forward to seeing them in high school.

Not true. Little League charter and insurance runs through any fall league or training and development league, TAD as LL refers to it.......through December 31. If a league has a fall league no further charter or insurance fees are required.........this is on the littleleague.org website.

inmyopinion
Somerset is with Cal and Pulaski County is with LL Actually, Pulaski County plays both and Somerset plays Cal Ripken. The Cal Ripken League is Lake Cumberland and I am sure between the South and the North, it is made up mostly of county kids.
pldgreatno2
Cal Ripken is the top dawg here in Lexington. They are always winning something. Little League has slacked with Parks ans Rec. greatly and is deeply missed.
