Pre-season 10th Region Baseball

I do not think Campbell will be the force people think it may be this year. Also, this group has yet to beat Scott with its current staff. That will be a challenge again. Pitching, the thinking goes will be a Camel strength may actually be a weakness. Time will tell but the standard bearers of accomplishments, Harrison will be at the top again.

I completely agree.

The old district configuration was Brossart, Bracken Co, Campbell Co., Pendleton Co. and Silver Grove, if your talking about the last one before the current one, although you might be thinking of the one before Campbell was moved to the 10th. OT.

I don't care with what people say. I know I may be a little biased but the camels will have a strong team this year. The kids that played on the JV last year could have played on a hand full of varsity teams in NKY. They played with each other as freshman and had an outstanding record in which I only think they lost 6 games, but were split up the past two years with some being on JV and others on varsity. The coaches for the Camels this year will have the kids ready to play an I am sure on it.

With the way the Camels played last year, (Basing this on the fact they didn't make it out of districts) If those players you have menitioned could of played on a hand full of varsity teams, Then why didn't they see time with the varsity Camels, maybe some young blood would of helped them last year. Competion among a ball club can do nothing but help.

StrMixALot, that seems to be the the big question, maybe somebody from the Camel nation could answer that for us!???!!!

Being a part of the program in the past as you state, “the way it used to be”, and being apart of one of the three regional titles in the 80’s as well as being on a Top 15 Team that was ranked in the top 15 in the state, I know for a fact Campbell Co. won on talent and to the credit of the players despite the coaching. No harm meant to Coach Mohr, but what the current staff does with the players is 100 times more than what was done in that time frame. This statement has been verified by many former players who have actually come and witnessed some the of practices.

As for the Brossart JV game last year…..you need to get your facts straight before you comment The player was benched because, the player, chose to go to Open Gym and shoot hoops instead of being up at the field for BP and infield prior to the Brossart JV Game. The Varsity Head Coach had no say in that call what so ever. This did create a stir that game and it didn’t help matters to add to an all already shortened team (JV players were going with Varsity over the weekend for a tournament) with players playing out of positions and very limited pitching. With that said, CAMELS did lose the game 3-4, give credit for Brossart for playing well, and you are right CAMLES did not play well (not to mention the horrible call the umpire made to end the game at home plate). No doubt the CAMLES players looked passed BROSSART, it happens they are kids, especially when the previous meeting the CAMLES thumped them Brossart 17-6. Winning 20 games last year and getting to the JV Regional Semi-Finals I guess isn’t good enough for “OLDTEACHER”.

Now the other point you made, which again was inaccurate, the reason the JV player was kicked off the team, was due to the fact the player, again chose, to not abide by team rules, was warned multiple times for these infractions by the Varsity Coach, and defiantly disputed the rules with the Varsity Coach, and was then kicked off.

OLDTEACHER, seriously you sound like either a disgruntle former player or a parent of kid that didn’t make the team….either way please, get your FACT straights before you start submitting information on this site as it is contributor like yourself which in the long run will be the downfall of what is a terrific avenue to enlighten, communicate, and share information on High School Athletics.

The program would be better served to look forward instead of living in the past. The size and feeder programs for Campbell should make it a consistent and dominant force at district play every single year. It use to be that way, year in and year out. Now, there is satisfaction and bragging on a record that is really not all that much. The jv game last year was the result of brossart coach having the team come ready to play and the camel coach not. How a camel team not be up to play Brossart is lost on me but that is a coach responsibility. There is more support to being outcoached at the jv level by the fact the varsity coach had to enforce discipline and team rules during a jv game around the time of the Brossart game while the jv coach was lost about it. I believe a player was kicked off the team over it.

I think there is great potential in the Camel program. But I see a comfort on the coaching staff that is not working that hard and has not worked hard. Some of the coaches do not even show up for practices and just before the game! Kids are suppose to be impressed by that? This is a situation that can be improved on. If that offends some, so be it. The site always talks about how to improve a program but I fail to see where some coaches do not hold themselves in the same light. The successful ones do.

Get your facts straight.....the call had nothing to do with the ball hitting the runner....the call was interference on the batter, if i remember correctly has the right to be in the batters box.....kind of funny how the umpire after the game apoligized that he screwed it up, but COWBOY was correct CAMELS did not deserve to win with the effort they gave.....Coaches warned them about a let down going into that game and that is what happened.....pretty sure the learned from the experience.

If i remember correctly I believe that Brossart scored a couple runs in the 6th inning to seal the deal, and last time i checked when the runner is running to third base and the ball hits him that is interference. Absolutely the right call. :thumb:

Actually they (Brossart players) left in the middle of the game pretty much after the game had been decided and CAMLES had removed some of their starters as well.

There was a man on second and he attempted to steal. When the catcher came up throwing to thrid trying to get the runner out, he moved up and while trying to make the throw he hit the batter who was still in the batters box. Interference was called on the batter and if i'm not mistaken the runner at 3rd was called out. It was one of the most terrible calls in my opinion. You could even see were the batters foot prints were in the batters box.[/QUOTe

The batter did not move and the cather's arm hit the batter while attempting to make the throw to get the guy at third. It is the right call, the runner at 3rd is called out. Oh and by the way Brossart's JV team was missing many of their main players in the first meeting against the Camels due to the fact that they were playing Varsity against the Camels that same night. Probably a good reason as to why they got beat pretty handedly.

Guess when you can't reach the district finals in Varsity, you gotta have sour grapes about a JV game...:D

Harrison Co. will by far be the best team in the region this year... Their pitching staff is the best, and they have one of the best lineups returning also...

Your so right as usual striker, as the mustangs should know from the seasons of 2004 and 2005.:D Like I said last four years its Camels two titles and mustangs two titles. Two good programs and I am sure both will be successful this coming season as well.

I guess I didn't make myself very clear here. What i was trying to say is as the runner was running to third and the ball hits the batter then the runner is out. I apologize for not being very clear.

I guess you didn't read my above post. I would suggest reading it before saying I had the wrong situation next time. And I'm almost 100% sure that when the catcher's arm hits the batter while he is trying to throw a guy out it is interference on the batter and the runner is called out.

Facts, provided to me been verified with many people. I am satisfied with the information I have. You need to provide a none of the above option to your description above. Your comment to not insult Tom Mohr has the opposite impact. You should work to improve the program instead of being intimidated by its past. The field is named for him after all. Why the jealous and this is exactly my point. Reflects on the past and this is a repeated comment.

Condensed and reposted. This is a fair comment to make.

Campbell County will be fine on the varsity, jv and freshman level. This could be frustration on a few that want better than how it turns out. I believe the Camels last year could have done better but in tournament play, you are one and done. This year team has a solid senior group and a solid junior group and a solid sophomore group. Frankly, I am interested in what the team will do in the spring of 08 rather than a supposed screwed up game on the jv level in 07. I saw the game, it was a questionable call but the umpire did describe his call making the rule a judgement call, end of story. This same umpire did many jv home games and no problems prior. Can this put it to bed?

Campbell will have solid players at many positions. Not a few great but just very good across the board. Those kind of line ups have a tendency to produce.

Oldteacher, you have evidently been around and sounds like you may have gone away. Are you coming back? Where you one of the ones who were let go a few years ago and now its payback? Not trying to find out mods, and do not want to know just trying to make a point.

You make some points but there is an edge to your points to some pretty good and fair folks. Camel staff, develop a thick skin like ball gloves, it will make it easy to catch the high and tight throws.

You have stated YOU don’t go to games, yet you rely on others for your information. Seems really weak to me that you piggyback on others and that is what you basis your opinions with. As I said in the previous post…..didn’t want to harm Coach Mohr, however YOU were the one doing the comparisons….having played both football and baseball for Coach Mohr I can tell you without hesitation, liked him as a person, but in baseball he was more of a “manager”, simply relying on the players to already have the skills they need to play Varsity Baseball once they got to him…thus, his practices both before the season and during the season consisted of BP and Infield and that was it. What the current program does now blows that away….obviously during the season there is not much time but still more is done. I guess if we utilize Coach Mohr’s theories the players coming in must not be getting the instruction they once did prior to getting into High School. Playing in the 9th Region, winning a Regional Title and 3 District Titles during my time within the baseball program at CCHS I take great pride of where it has been and where it is currently at.
