Also, the last words of a redneck are:

" Hey guys, watch this " LOL :D

That's the one I was going to offer...definitely country and one of my favorite meals, lol. I made some just the other day. I've had moon pies as well...amazing.

Looking for crawdads (or whatever you wanna call them).

Walking in the creek barefoot and swimming in it everyday.

Laying on my back in a creek bed and letting crawdads crawl all over me...........ahhhhhhhhhh those were the days

I didn't have baby sitter to do it but I have been "switched".....Mom used a switch and dad would use his hand or belt.

Time Outs??? My Dad would take time out of his day to whip my butt :scared: That was the only time outs.

My dad used to go to work and make a wooden paddle to whip me and my little brother's butts with. But they never lasted long because while dad was at work we would always get his paddle and throw it out in back alley so he couldnt find it.

Does this qualify:

1. Helping neighbors and family dig the grave when someone passed away. A common occurance when I was young.

2. Sleeping at the funeral home overnight during visitation when my grandmother passed away because my uncle and I did not want her to be alone. I was 13 at the time.

3. Grading tobacco and tying it by hand before taking it to the market.

4. Wringing a chicken's neck to kill it.

Yes, those seem to qualify.

I'd add one thing ot item #1. When driving through EKY, one thing that always catches my attention is the family cemetary next to a house.

Anyone been to "foot washin" and "dinner on the ground"....Now thats country!

Being whipped with a mining belt.

Sleeping out on the river bank while fishing.

People bringing the dead home.

Picking poke.

Plus all the others (almost).

Do I get to be country?

Growing up in a town with no stop light until the 1980s.

Growing up in a town with only one school - K-12

When you give directions, you use people's homes as points of references and not street names or numbers

You shop at a grocery store where the teenagers carry your groceries to the car.

The mayor of your town has another full-time job.

July 4th celebrations still have dunking booths, cake walks, and a tractor pull.

Your police department has a roadkill list for people to pick up deer hit by vehicles

When a prominant citizen dies, you can't get within a block of the hospital because of the crowd

Teenagers congregate around the town square on a Friday or Saturday night

Growing up, you knew your job around Labor Day involved "laying down tobacco sticks"

Helping grandma shuck corn and snap beans before dinner

The sound of a dinner bell means it's noon, time to eat, and time to leave the field

You have dogs and cats that live outside and co-exist

Going to town to shop and pay bills is an event, usually predicated by bad weather

You have a truck you never wash. Ever.

Your mother or grandmother has a hand fan in her bible

You've cut yours and your girlfriend's initials into a tree

There are more than a few songs out that talk about growing up "country."

It got me to thinking about things I've done that could be considered "country."

I've fished with a cane pole.

I've been to a field party.

I've been to tractor pulls at the county fair.

I've been stung by an electric fence.

I've set tobacco (absolutely the worst job I've ever had).

I've had Ale8.

I've lived in a town where there was truly a "county square."

I've lived in a county where there was only the county Sheriff and a state trooper.

Without getting into sorry stereotypes (you know you're a redneck crap) what are some other legit indicators that you're "country?"

Frog gigging.

Frog gigging.

Younger son and 5 of his buddies camped out at the farm this past weekend and spent most of the night frog gigging. They had a blast.

1. I have fished with a cane pole.

2. Haven't been to a field party.

3. Have been to tractor pulls.

4. Yes have been shocked by electric fence.:scared:

5. Yes I have set tobacco with the ol' hand setter as well as the one that goes onto the back of the tractor back then on a farm was a wa of making some money when you were a kid.

6. Had Ale8 lots of times but still stick to Mt. Dew.

7. Of course.

8. At one time havin' a sheriff and a KSP trooper was the norm since then we have a City Cop that patrols the town.

Had RC Cola and a Moon Pie for lunch from the local country store.

Bought your bonogna by the "hunk" at the same country store...

Yes I have done this especially if your were working in the fields during the summer months. Hadn't had a Moon Pie in a while.

I used to put peanuts in mine...did you??

I used to put peanuts in Pepsi...they're about the same.

As a kid, my regular swimming location was in a creek.

I have good friends who have performed on the Grand Ole Opry

We used to live on a "red dog" road.

My grandparents had an outhouse.

Our dog is a neighborhood dog. She roams around everywhere and everybody feeds her.

When I got into trouble as a kid (teen) my parents frequently knew about it before I got home.

I probably still pee outside as often as I do inside. :D

I've waded in Johnson Creek here in Robertson County. We had a outhouse at home. I still pee outside especially if I'm mowing the yard outback of the house.
