June 29, 200719 yr In case you didn't know, he was a former UK player. Just wanted to make sure you knew before you went around calling him "awesome" all the time. Everybody on this site doesn't have malice for people because they played for "The Other Guys."
June 29, 200719 yr Just saw on the news that the announcement will be as early as tomm...Good for him, I loved that guy in the UK jersey, but WHY UofL...:scared:  Because they couldn't find anyone else to sing the National Anthem. McCarty will be a great addition to the UL staff. It is a great stepping stone for him to begin a coaching career.
June 29, 200719 yr One concern I would have as a UL fan is that they now have two coaches with very minimal if any assistant coaching experience. Pitino's son has a little and McCarty none. Obviously, they are learning from one of the best, but I am somewhat surprised he didn't go for someone with more experience especially recruiting. Good to see McCarty get a shot...
June 29, 200719 yr Louisville has to be one of the best situaitons that he could've even thought about starting his coaching career at. I wish him the best of luck. I enjoyed watching him play at UK, and I think he will make a great coach.
June 29, 200719 yr [/b] Because they couldn't find anyone else to sing the National Anthem.
June 30, 200719 yr Congrats to Walter. I was at UK during his redshirt and freshman year and met him at Hardee's by Wildcat Lodge one night at about 2am. Seemed like a very nice guy--I later met his Mom in New Orleans during the SEC Tourney in 1996. I hope he does well in the coaching ranks. There was a Hardee's beside the lodge? Definitely not anymore. Good for Walter.
June 30, 200719 yr It is so satisfying to see these "former" Cats, become "present" CARDS Just goes to show that when one enters the real working world they have start at the bottom and work their way up.

June 30, 200719 yr I think he could be a great coach. Has a great enthusiasm for the game and can really bring an energy to the game. I think this is a great pickup for Pitino and the Cards. He's not going to be playing in the game....
