Arkansas and Vandy are the tossup games; UK will win at least one of those. I see no worse than 5-7; maybe 6-6.

Not necessarily. There was about a minute left and we had 3 scoring drives of 2 plays or less against that defense anyway. I am confident we could have done it. Either way I am cool with the outcome.

I was thinking that INT came with under a minute left. You would be correct.

 

As far as UK goes the defense, on paper, has to be better then last year. They will have more experience and depth. The offense should pick up where they left off with most key weapons back. On paper UK should have a could year. Too bad they have to actually play the games.

Maybe I am being simplistic but, I think that UK needs to make a better effort of showing that it plans to be a basketball and football school. Many people that I know don't think that UK is behind the football program, I know that is not true, but the football program doesn't seem to have enough life. People joke about it because is has been done for so long.

 

Not to compare the program with others but, Louisville has excitement about football and basketball. Florida has excitement about football and basketball. Tennessee has developed excitement about basketball as well as football. Kentucky does not seem to have anywhere near the excitement about football that is does about basketball.

 

IMO, until they have more of a heart beat in the football program, they will miss out on recruits that would normally go to Kentucky, and the fan base will not grow as fast as it should.

UK will beat the 5 teams that they should beat then they will knock off 2 of the 7 teams in which they will be underdogs for 7 wins. They only question is which 2 will they beat of UL,LSU,SC,ARK.GA,FLA,UT. I think they have the best shot against UL,ARK,SC,UT.

I know fans are excited, but I am talking about gaining new fans and recruits. I like UK but, I just don't ever feel excited about the football program and I know many people who feel the same way. I always hope they win, except for that game against UT, but I personally don't care to buy tickets to watch them, I will buy tickets to watch their opponents. I am not bashing UK, I am just saying that the program seems flat compared to other programs.

Is Micah Johnson still on the team? I have seen a couple of pre-season magazines that don't have him listed on the roster

The fun has begun...

 

1. UK did positive things last season. Beating Georgia and Clemson showed that Grandpa Brooks isn't completely worthless.

 

2. UK has stars on the offensive side of the ball. Woodson can sling it and Burton can make plays.

 

3. Last season wasn't as golden as UK fans are bringing themselves to believe. The defense was horrid. The team still suffered sever beatings at the hands of Louisville and LSU. A couple of the "pay to play at home" teams gave you everything you wanted and then some.

 

4. The schedule fills out horribly for the Cats this season.

Kent St- Should be a gimme, however we all know how Grandpa Brooks lets his teams "play down" to the MAC teams 2-0

Louisville- Unless the Cats can score 50 or pull down 4+ turnovers, they can't win this game, I expect a blowout with Louisville's defense earning respect they are often denied 2-1

@Arkansas- At home you might have a shot, on the road I don't see it 2-2

Florida Atlantic- Who thinks of Owl's when they think of Florida? I mean seriously, why an owl? 3-2 (Sidebar- Schnellenberger has a lot of returning starters on this team, Beware the Pipe!)

@South Carolina- Spurrier will pounce on you, kill you, and then play with you dead carcass just to amuse his national audience. 3-3

LSU- BEAT DOWN 3-4

Florida- I'd say you have a pretty decent shot considering the numbers that Florida has to replace, but then I remember that UK's only good for moral victories against UF. 3-5

Miss St- You'd better win this one. 4-5

@Vandy- To many seniors on Vandy to let you leave Nashville winners 4-6

@Georgia- Payback, with a vengence 4-7

Tennessee- Guess who has the 2nd longest losing streak in a series the nation. 4-8

 

5. "You can't argue with the results we have had", This type of arrogance for a coach who is 17-30 says so much.

 

Not saying you're completely wrong, but, I think UK has too many weapons for Vandy and have a 50-50 chance against SCarolina.. I also think they have a very realistic shot at UL, Tn and Ga...I don't think they'll win them all, but, I do feel they'll come away with at least 1 of the 3.. I could easily see them at 7-5, but, most likely 6-6...

With the product that has been put on the field (not really talking about last year)... I'd say the fans show more than enough support. The program seems flat because the team usually isn't very good. Rich has picked up the recruiting.

The ooc is not as padded as it was last season, this season will be a tough go of it. Like I said, the Cats could very well be better this season than last and probably will not have as good of a record. Tougher ooc, always brutal SEC - it is going to be tough. I agree with one poster earlier that said 5-7 or 6-6 at best.
