June 16, 200719 yr The Oakland Raiders canceled the final week of their offseason training program Friday after complaints from the NFL players' union about the intensity of the practices. In a brief statement, coach Lane Kiffin said the players' union believes the Raiders' offseason program violated league rules on practice standards. http://kevxml.windstream.net/_1_2NZ2TO10OV6D7W__wind.main/apnws/story.htm?kcfg=apart&sin=D8PPIKNG0&qcat=sports&ran=2549&feed=ap&
June 16, 200719 yr I wonder why they finished last in their conference last year. (2-14 overall and 0-8 on the road) Must have been practices with to much intensity. Please.
June 16, 200719 yr Author Looks like the players are content with mediocracy. If the new coach isn't fired by mid-season I would be shocked. That is a bad, BAD situation.
June 16, 200719 yr Guess they like losing. After watching them last year, they should probably practice all day every day or be relagated to NFL Europe.
June 16, 200719 yr Football. Too intense. Unbelievable. Lyle Alzado is rolling over in his grave, and Ted "Mad Stork" Hendricks, Howie Long, Lester Hayes, Mike Haynes, and all of the other Raiders of yesteryear need to protest at the union's door. Isn't former Raider Gene Upshaw the union president?
June 16, 200719 yr The Autumn Wind is a Pirate, Blustering in from the sea, With a rollicking song, He sweeps along, Swaggering boisterously. "His face is weather-beaten, He wears a hooded sash, With a silver hat about his head, And a bristling black mustache. "He growls as he storms the country, A villain, big and bold, And the trees all shake and quiver and quake, As he robs them of their gold. "The Autumn Wind is a Raider, Pillaging just for fun, he'll knock you around, and upside down, and laugh when he's conquered and won." The guys on NFL Radio have been predicting the Raiders finish above the Chiefs in '07, I just don't see it. They were pathetic on offense last season, were solid on defense but it looks like they lack heart even after dumping Moss.
June 16, 200719 yr So I guess old school smashmouth football and actually working to improve a dismal team is illegal now. When is the NFL going to start putting flags around players waist lines during training camp?
June 16, 200719 yr If the new coach isn't fired by mid-season I would be shocked. That is a bad, BAD situation. Sounds like the coach needs to get the babies out of the locker room. If I'm not mistaken, the players' union doesn't step in unless they receive complaints from players. Therefore, it's the guys (or in this case girls) in the black and silver complaining about the practices.

We all know that the coaches will lose their job before the players will, that team has quit more than a few times since the SuperBowl year when things went bad. They will quit on this coach if even the slightest thing starts to go downhill. Not really fair, but that's the way it works.
June 16, 200719 yr This is why it's the NO FUN LEAGUE, and NO ONE CARES ALMOST AS MUCH AS THE NBA! Umm....I'm pretty sure the NFL is the most popular sport in the country.
June 17, 200719 yr What exactly is the wording in the CBA that was violated? Something about making them sweat.
