June 17, 200719 yr Apparently, the player's union is ticked because the teams are making off-season practices mandatory in new rookie contracts. One of the latest trends in NFL contract negotiations could help teams make voluntary offseason workouts mandatory. NFL Players Association lead attorney Richard Berthelsen said the union has become aware of an increasing trend among players drafted after the first round. Teams are attaching a clause to contracts that requires players to participate in offseason conditioning programs in order for players to achieve contract escalators at the end of their deals. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=At1R2DKcsgKIFax0TjRxXY5DubYF?slug=jc-contracts061107&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
June 17, 200719 yr http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/06/16/SPG1VQGC6A1.DTL This article mentions the ruling that no contact is to occur during these minicaps.
