"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

May God bless Chief Lacy's family and friends at this tragic time.

What a tragic event. My thoughts will be with his family and friends.

God Speed Chief......Blessed are the peacemakers.

Horrifying....Police personnel, lay their lives on the line for us, everyday and are often, taken for granted.

Execute the scum, who did this.

Thats horrible, tragic. My condolenses to his family.

I agree. My prayers go out to this officer's family.

I could not agree more with the last statement, but the bleeding hearts in this country will not let that happen. I will not turn this into a political statement in this thread because this is not the time or place for that.

The Final Inspection

The Policeman stood and faced his God,

Which must always come to pass.

He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with You?

Have you always turned the other cheek?

To my Church have you been true?"

The officer squared his shoulders and said,

"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.

Cause those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.

But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep,

Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.

And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.

They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand.

I've never expected or had too much.

But if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.

As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.

"Step forward now, Officer, you've borne your burdens well.

Come walk a beat on Heaven's Streets. You've done your time in Hell."

PH....Very moving and touching poem. I hope his family, can find comfort, during this time of tragedy.

I have no sympathy, for people who commit heinous acts like this....None.

That poem gives me goosebumps.

Makes me think about all the nights I worried if my brother was going to come home.

Terrible terrible news! I hope they find the man that did this (if he escaped) and give him the worst punishment possible.

BTW that poem is just awesome.

A very fitting poem to our fallen hero... I hope the fullest extent of pain comes upon the culprit.

I feel horrible for Chief Lacy and his family, BUT can I ask this....how does a man in custody that was arrested by Chief Lacy, shoot him from the back of the patrol car?
