I've always been on the fence about the death penalty but to me this is clear cut that he deserves to be "put down" if you will. I can't even fathom the type of person it would take to shoot an officer point blank in the back of the head like that. He absolutely disgusts me and I say good riddance.

The way the system works today is some people seem to try every way in the world to 'break into prison', but are continually released to commit more crimes. The judicial system is so soft that these renegades run around loose on society until a tragedy like this sometimes happens. This needs to change.

 

Sometimes when they do go to prison they are not there the entire time. The human excrement that killed my brother got 20 years for breaking and entering and 20 years for manslaughter. He was paroled after serving just 19 years. If he had of served 5 more years he would have served out and been released, this way he is still under the eye of probation and parole for the entire 40 years.

 

Most criminals when they are in the state correctional system, they receive credit for 2 days for every 1 day when they behave themselves. Just a really messed up system in my opinion.

The Bible is very clear...An eye for an eye. I'm so sorry. This makes me so sad. I know several law officers. I wished I had an answer.

 

This man was a hero just like all the men and women who answer a call.

I think Chief Lacy even brought that guy's family gifts/food for Christmas last year. And that is how he is re-payed? The guy said in an interview that he does not even remember doing it because he was so "high". That seems to be a common defense being used by these idiots now a days and I think it is a crock! You do the crime--you do the time--high or not! :madman: You want rehab, you can get that while you are in prison!

I think anytime someone kills a cop they deserve the harshest punishment possible, that being the death penalty in KY. These guys put their life on the line daily and are the first line of defense for all of us.

 

They deserve the highest level of protection the law can provide them. And that includes the protection provided by threat of the death penalty for anyone who commits a crime like this.

 

Is killing a cop a worse crime than killing a regular citizen? Morally, no. But legally, yes, I think it should be.

I just caught something on the news...correct me if I have made mistakes. Two police officers were shot in Indiana last night before the teenage gunman turned the gun on himself. One officer died.
