June 8, 200719 yr Have we become numb to the fact that our kids are being killed in these numbers thousands of miles away from home just like in the 1960's. In the 1960's we were told we had to fight to stop the spread of communism, but in reality we fought for Exxon and the other huge oil companies, could that be the reason our kids are dying now and not to stop the spread of radical Islam? A person just needs to read Mcnamera's book or Andersons biography on Johnson. While the youth in the sixties fought against war they are now exploiting war IMO
June 8, 200719 yr I won't comment on the politics here...just a sad number. God bless their families and the soldiers that are still fighting and being injured.
June 8, 200719 yr Author True blue I truly believe God will bless the soldiers and their families, I just worry that we as a nation have become to accept the death and destruction that is going on, the president has made it illegal to show the flag drapped coffins when they arrive back home, and their moms or wifes can't be there to accept them back. Sir that is just wrong.
June 8, 200719 yr I'm just glad Mission has been declared accomplished by the current administration or else it might be more
June 8, 200719 yr Author Sad but true,My son is 15 and it scares me about what conflict will be next, Iran, Syria or to be announced and with our troops being spread thin the draft will have to be re-enacted

June 8, 200719 yr Oh, you guys are blowing this number thing out of proportion. You merely have to look at it from a Rush Limbaugh/far right Bush supporter point of view to realize that the 3500 killed are a scant number compared to numbers of KIA in Vietnam, Korea, and WWII. So just relax. Or better yet, show your support for the troops (many on their 2nd and 3rd deployments) by jumping into that Hummer H2 with the yellow ribbon and head on down to the corner Starbuck's for a Grande Mocha Latte.

June 8, 200719 yr When I was visiting DC in December, there was a temporary exhibit at the Women's Memorial at the entrance to Arlington Cemetery called "Faces of the Fallen". It was an exhibit that contained artists' renderings of all the soldiers who had died in IRAQ as of that date. The exhibit also contained many original notes from loved ones along with other mementos with the portraits. It was one of the most moving exhibits I have ever witnessed.

Over 3500 DAILY of our youth are getting killed in the name of choice and parents not having the responsibility of a child.
