The man takes a terrible team, gets it going, get demolished by injuries in '05, goes 8-5 in '06, beats Georgia, and gets the team's first bowl win in forever, and before the next season starts he's getting reamed all over again.

I can't believe that you of all people can't look at what he inherited and what he has done with it, ... without cheating! Come on Jim, .... he took over a HORRIBLE Oregon program and turned it around. He has done the same thing at UK. Maybe he needs to pick better football teams so there isn't as much building to do!

It took him nearly 20 years to do it at Oregon; patience that would not be afforded him in today's coaching climate. I was against UK getting him from the get-go. The guy shouldn't be coaching anywhere, IMO.

Coach Brooks has done it the right way. He took the job when no one else wanted it. Probation killed UK's numbers. They are finally back at the 85 limit. Went 8-5 in the SEC, beat Georgia, who is a traditional powerhouse, and won a Bowl Game for the first time in 22 years. Hats off to him and good luck this year.

Considering you don't like UK anyway, that's okay! He has done a better job at UK than I thought he would, and that is all that matters. It isn't like he was rebuilding Alabama's football program, ... this is UK. Not exactly a national power!

 

It is very hard to argue that he hasn't done a very good job at UK if we are truly honest with where he has the program now considering the mess he was handed and he had to deal with. And this against a top 25 schedule when he didn't necessarily have a top 25 team at the beginning of the season.

I agree. It appears that no matter what he does in his tenure here that he will get no recognition for what he has done.

We will be alright. The expectations aren't high enough in football. Sure the SEC is the best in the nation in football. Sure the SEC east is probably the toughest in football. If you want to have a successful program you have to increase expectations every year. This year we should go to a larger bowl. Otherwise the program is not going in the right direction. There will be down years but when there are down years a better year should follow and expectations should get higher.

Thats AWFULLY high expectations for this year. The Cats could easily go 5-7 or 6-7 this year and not really have slipped from last year.

 

This year's schedule is much harder. The tough games (read: games they probably won't win no matter where they're played) are at Commonwealth, and the toss ups (read: games where home field advantage could be huge) are on the road.

 

If the Cats manage to match or improve on last year's record, I'll be extremely pleased.

That's why UK football fans get unde my skin so much.
